I think it has happened twice. Made a horrible sound.
First time I had a gear in, then released the clutch pedal, forgot to put the gear in neutral.
Second time I put the gear in and forgot to press the clutch first.
There seems to be a sound now when I'm driving in reverse and I have pressed down the clutch halfway. Kind of sounds like a little metal ring is loose or something.
Both times the car was standing still. I'm not talking about shifting gears without clutching the way I've read some truck drivers do, matching the revs and such, I'm talking about when you do it by mistake and there is a horrible sound.

Not if you do it at the right revs and without a horrible crunching sound. Otherwise you will fuck the insides of the 'box like I fuck your mom.

Congrats you can now claim you fucked a tranny.
Nothing to worry about, OP. Grinding a few gears here and there is just part of the experience of driving a manuel

>that noise when the gf drives your car

Once or twice likely won't have done any noticeable damage. Just don't do it again
Yes it's bad don't do it again.
