I'm having some grounding issues in my car where the negative lead grounds to the body. I'm going to remove the lead, and lightly sand the body to give a fresh metal surface, but how do I seal it to prevent rust? I don't want to spend much money, and I don't care much for aesthetics. I got some leftover clearcoat, can I just use this?

sand the motherfuck out of the spot and use glossy rustoleum. If your car is white like your picture, it will match pretty good, but not until you polish it. Wax it if you are an autist like myself.

Early miatas don't have a clearcoat, so stay away from that
