Is a 2nd gen Ford Explorer Sport with 175000 miles for $2000 a good buy to use as a DD? Gas isn't an object.

Why not a 3k civic?

3k is my total budget right now and I'd like to have extra in case of repairs.
But mainly because every Civic in my area for that cheap is
>riced to shit
>over 275k miles
>salvage title
>"Just needing a new engine!"
or >everything works except for 2nd gear

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
2k for a 200k mile explorer!?
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

please don't buy that, get a smaller car for the same price, it'll be in better conditions

No. No. No.
Explorers are terrible shit. You'll end up paying a bunch in repairs or be out of a car, again, when it inevitably shits the bed.

What year the 02-05 are the worst ones
Before that is fine though

Well the Sport 2 doors never changed to the shit tier 3rd gen platform, just got a 3rd gen style chassis in 2002. But the one I'm looking at is a 2000.

People say this but Gen 2 Explorers seem to be pretty tough. My parents had one when I was growing up and it never gave us any trouble. In fact the only reason we got rid of it was due to some recall that was deemed unfixable so my parents took the payout.
