DOHC
What's the best way to make power?
Bigger intake
Induction
Bigger TB
Decat
Tuneable ECU
Stage 1 cams and springs and cam gears
So, what next? What am I missing. I am keeping it n/a.
File pump and reg will do what I need and more so, so that's out, also injectors.
Bigger bore/longer stroke. No replacement for displacement.

>spending 5k on new internals when you can get he same gains with a $750 nitrous kit

Airflow, airflow, airflow.
Port the heads, longer duration cam and/or higher ratio full-roller rockers, rocker arm stud girdle or upgrade to shaft-mounted rocker arms, if you have cam phasers make sure to check for valve-piston interference and limit them appropriately, larger intake plenum with larger TB (better, dual staggered-opening smaller TB's), tuned exhaust, titanium or hollow-stem stainless valves with tool steel or titanium retainers, high-grade anti-pump-up lifters, bore, stroke, increase compression ratio, polish combustion chambers, optimize quench, 'colder' range spark plugs, multi-spark and crank-triggered coil-on/near-plug ignition, appropriately sized injectors and fuel pump, self-tuning ECU, forward-facing or cowl-induction CAI, there's no such thing as an oversized air-filter, high-flow water pump and three-row radiator with dual fans, high flow oil pump and the largest quality filter you can fit, bonus points for dry sump and oil catch can, dual roller timing chain or gear drive, solid or at least polyurethane engine mounts...
I probably forgot a few things but this ought to get you started.
