My Friend is looking to buy his first car, Surprising he wants a manual. Hes not car savvy, and ive been giving him ideas on what to look at, such as prelude gen 5, $2k civic meme, Acura EL meme, Corollas, and a few Mazdas. I know old corollas are easy to learn stick on, What i learned stick on, what about the other cars? Are they a good option?
Hes a few months away from buying a car, and his budget is probs $3k- $5k, $7k incuding repairs and insurance. I gave him my rule of thumb on keeping a shit box on the road, prepare to spend $2k on repairs if your not going to do it yourself.
What does /o/ think? Am i giving good suggestions?

3k civic, corollas, miatas, RX-7 (or if he can find 'em cheaper, RX-8) if hes feeling suicidal

You have the typical /o/ shit boxes covered but truth be told a torquey engine is more forgiving to learn on at least in the stall department. Maybe worse in the danger department I guess but Blondie was able to start from a stop and make it all the way to 4th on a gravel park road in my Ram just to make clear how easy it is between the torque and the huge throw on the clutch.

OP here
I own a AE92 GTS, with the Big meme 4AGE, granted it has no power, but the tourqe is very usable, Not having to rev the nuts off it in every gear to get and tourqe, and its rather lowdown.
So what your saying, and i agree, he should for something with some Tourqe?

No. I bought this new for work purposes and the manual here is crap. Car will literally stall if it goes below 700 rpm. First gear is also SUPER whinny and students at my unit turn to look where that noise is coming from. Also, no 6th gear. 80mph is literally 4000 rpm on 5th gear.
Car is super cheap and easy to maintain tho
