would this make a good daily driver with a reasonable maintenance schedule? i don't really need much space and im never hauling more than one person at any given moment.
i will be putting no more than 3000 miles a year on it, mostly just a 10 minute commute to school and running errands in those miles.

Keep it under 3000 rpm or IMSBF.

the IMS isn't a meme with the boxster. Do it op. Though you might feel like a faggot in winter.

Does this bearing failure still occur in brand new models?
>>17367985
Only the cars with M96 and M97 engines have the IMS bearings that are relatively prone to failure. The later 997 and 987 models (from 2009 onwards) used 9A1/MA1 engines which fixed the issue.
Sure, you only live once, it will be the most efficient way to get around and the most fun.
My father dailies a 13' S. Shit's great.
Also has good trunk space with both of them combined.
the IMS isnt a problem at all in these.
I advise you get one with sport chrono/sport/exhaust, otherwise walk away.
Keep in mind it might get a little sketchy in the winter if it snows there though. These cars don't have a removable hardtop as an option as the 986 987.

Ask you husband first.

They're great daily drivers
>mostly just a 10 minute commute to school and running errands in those miles
This could be problematic, sports cars don't like putting around town and never getting up to operating temperatures. It can take 20 minutes on a cold day because lol 8 litres of oil

Get a gayman instead. Much better.

Literally the same car

Roof > No roof
>>17372760
It's purely subjective
>>17367985
Nah only the 996 models with non-turbo engines had the IMS issues.
>>17367976
the 981 doesn't have an IMS bearing
>>17372760
Maybe if you tarck it but no roof is glorious on a sunny day.
