>waiting for green
>clutch and brake in, 1st gear in
>suddenly grinding gears noise
>stick reset itself to neutral without touching anything
What's happening here? It the 3rd time this happens.

Your synchros are dickered, mate
Let me ask you, have you been putting the car into neutral without using the clutch?
I've heard of some people doing that and over time it fucks up your gearbox and will throw itself into neutral randomly
>>17361400
Yeah. You may need a tranny rebuild. At least a manual tranny is cheaper to fix than an auto.
>>17361655
who the fuck does that
How long are you leaving the clutch pressed in for? Don't tell me you wait the full light with the clutch in.
manual fags btfo
Reverse on my t56 does this.
1st and 2nd used to but stopped
Weird
Why the fuck don't you keep it in neutral?
>>17361394
Old transmission, bad synchros. Put it in first while rolling
>>17361655
What kind of nigger shit is this?

I do it when I'm coming up to lights, but I wait until the engine is at idle RPM to do it and I don't have to force it at all. The motion is very easy.
For the sake of comparison, if I tried to shift into neutral without clutch at a higher RPM, it's difficult. So I don't do that.
Shift forks can be fucked, syncros, countershaft bearing walked out. Flush tranny and throw some good fresh shit in there, had it happen to my 2nd gear. If it persist probably consider a new transmission
Damn, so I fucked my transmission? I grind my gears more often that I'd like to admit, my commute is long and I work mostly standing up (line supervisor) wearing unconformable shoes, so my feet are pretty numb on my way home and often I don't really feel the clutch pedal.
But it doesn't really happen as often, so I'm probably fine for a few years. Car is a '14 Focus ST btw, 80k miles.

Damn negro you have a long commute

I think those Focuses have a reputation for transmission problems. Might try getting in touch with a Ford tech lurking around here and see if he can pull up the TSBs and see if your tranny type is on the list. Might still be under warranty too.
