I have saved up enough money to not have to work for a long time, but I need a car to get me around for grocery shopping.
My budget is around $5,000 and I need the car to be able to be driven in the snow.
Literally fucking anything. $3k Honda Civic and a set of snow tires.

Any particular year or trim to look out for?
Geo Tracker / Suzuki Sidekick would be the way to go. Decent gas mileage, easy to work on and good at basic 4x4 stuff. Just be sure to get one with 4WD if you want it for winter shit.
Beware of rust though.

or for lower operating costs get an fwd 850 or v/s70

Slightly more gas efficient and road safe. Same car for the most part.
