Why does nobody here like Subaru when they are the only company that has any true "driver's cars" for young people prices?

>base WRX has good power, AWD, manual only, minimal nanny systems and infotainment, good outward visibility, MPG 20 city 27 highway, 0-60 5.2 seconds, four doors for more whores, ok looking aesthetically but not a knockout
>MSRP 28k
>base BRZ has enough power, RWD, manual available, minimal nanny systems and infotainment, good visibility, MPG 21 city 29 highway, 0-60 6.1 seconds, two doors for classy whores, excellent looking aesthetically
>MSRP 26k

Even ignoring these two great examples, Subaru has a great lineup overall of affordable sedans, wagons, and SUVs known for reliability and relative simplicity.

These are basically the best most overlooked cars on the /o/ market.

Because the WRX costs less than the BRZ but is superior in every way. This shit is an outright insult to our intelligence. Where do they get off doing this?
>>
>>17345274
The WRX costs more though.

>This shit is an outright insult to our intelligence. Where do they get off doing this?
Do you think the corporate bosses have a dart board of prices and just see what gets hit? It's all supply and demand plus prices of factors of production.
>>
>in b4 head gaskets

To answer your question it is that it isnt that people don't like subaru, they dont like You-bru starting threads all the time just so you can validate to yourself that they are good cars. Maybe start an interesting subaru thread instead of "WHY DOENSNT EVERYONE ACKNOWLEDGE SUBIE WITH MEEEE?!?! #184747" and you'll see.
>>
>>17345260
Subaru are one of the most popular manufacturers on this board. People gripe about the brz and the latest stis sure but that's about it. Maybe it's the culture that the following exudes?
>>
>>17345319
I rarely ever see Subaru threads that aren't central to the 86-twin. And nobody here ever talks about the WRX aside from vape/snapback shitposting.

Everyone is too concerned with Burgerkingring laptimes and supercar shitposting to talk about anything they can afford. I thought I'd mix it up a little and make a Subaru thread.
>>
KEK,

>BRZ
>Starting at €51.295
http://www.subaru.nl/subaru-brz

>WRX STI
>Starting at € 90.095
http://www.subaru.nl/wrx-sti

At these prices I might as well just buy a BMW.

But that might just be my country.

So I check Germany and Belgium as they have way less taxation on cars:
>33k for BRZ
>42k for WRX STI

Guess I'm just a Europoor.
>>
>>17345359
Poor nederlander. I'm American so those are my prices, I forgot to put dollar signs in my post.

How expensive is an M3 there? For comparison's sake.
>>
>msrp 28k
Yeah, because 28k is "young people" prices.

I can order myself a 2000 subbie that's jdmtyte fresh from japan for 10k, save me the other 18k for whores.

because Boxer engines are complete shit, its a inherently poor design to have pistons sideways so oil can pool in one corner of the valve covers. nevermind ringland and headgasket issues. i was a mechanic for nearly a decade, any Subaru car that came in you could expect to at least see early HG issues and you would just spray off the leaking oil from the gasket with brake clean

the only Subaru i own and will ever own is a Sambar, theyre actually good and one of the better Kei trucks. whenever some kid in a GC8 or Forester flies by me giving thumbs up its partial cringe because i hate every other Subaru but Justy and Sambar lol

>It's pretty sad because I know that I would never be able to afford a car like this as income taxes go up to 52% for everything you earn more than 52k a year.
That's the price you pay for having a large social program state. The government will pay for your medicine, education, etc. but it all comes out of your taxes and the higher incomes get taxed more.

I personally prefer the way we do it. I'd actually prefer lower taxes and lower social program spending but I'll take what I can get.

Maybe you shouldn't be launching the shit out of you're car to keep up with others at stoplights, either that or just poor shifting habits. Why have you not taken to dealer for warranty? Something is not right or you are leaving something out because TOB's don't go bad day 1

I don't need to drive one. I'm sure they're plenty fun to drive. They just need a different engine and more power.

young car enthusiasts don't buy new cars, and if they do they are absolute fools

You can get SO MUCH car for $28k on the used car market.
>>
What a well timed thread, I just got two job offers at a Subaru dealership. Call center type job or detailer type job. What should I do, /o/? Detailer gets more money by $3 but at a flat rate, while the caller gets commissions.
>>
>>17346796
How much exactly for each position? Detailing isn't gonna be easy work tbqh especially at a dealer. Call centre is good experience especially for a resume, call center jobs pay very well even if this one doesn't take the call centre and look at other call centre jobs in a year and see how well they pay with requirement of 1 years experience. Detailer will get you nowhere in longrun

I pass more Subarus over double yellow in winter in WNY than anything else by far.
>>
>>17345833
You mean a Camry in snowshoes.

It's always a Subie slowing down traffic on highways in the snow, which is not safe.

jesus christ what a fucking shithole of a country...
I trully feel sorry for you anon, maybe it's time you consider moving literally anywhere else. Even here in Romania gypsiville auto enthusiast life is better.
>>
>>17346816
12/Hr + commission call center, 15/Hr detailer.

Sounds good, thanks for the advice anon. The guy sounded like he wanted a call center person anyway, referencing somebody that was leaving for Oregon with her husband for the husband's job. I'm pretty excited desu even if this is really just a stopgap job until I (hopefully) get selected by the navy to be a pilot sometime in the fall or spring.

>but is superior in every way

I daily a '17 WRX and I don't believe you.

To have fun with a WRX you have 3 options:
>be on a track
>be in snow
>be okay with massive speeding tickets

IMO the car is set up to handle 350+whp (minus the brakes, they don't impress) so trying to break it loose from the road in normal conditions is hard and tends to involve more throwing the car at a corner too fast than rolling onto the throttle mid corner and getting some nice oversteer.

TLDR: WRX is fast but probably not more fun than a BRZ
>>
>>17346869
People get angry when I mention that the wrx has a loose noodle steering while the brz has a nice tight response to it making it better on tight turns coming in hot. Have you driven both I'd like an honest opinion
>>
>>17346876
Haven't driven both but the new the new WRX (at least I assume it isn't just mine) has fairly nice steering. It's heavy, precise, and, for an electric system, provides pretty good road feel.

I also don't really notice the understeer that a lot of people complain about though the '15+ cars will brake the inside wheel(s?) on a corner to counter that. Also: I wonder if that's down to them not knowing anything about weight transfer / trying to drive it like a RWD car.
>>
>>17346939
When I test drove a 15 wrx I didn't notice any difference with the 05 sti I ended up getting, the steering requires alot more input than the BRZ could just be AWD car problems not sure since this is my first. I like how at high speeds it's really planted to the ground giving alot of confidence even if it's false on a tight turn. Have not pushed it as hard as my BRZ because it's alot of car on tight small roads and don't want to wreck my shit. Maybe some pilot supersports would help alot more than the Kumo tires that came with it
>>
>>17346869
I found that the WRX has the perfect amount of Horsepower for daily fun. It's powerful enough to go fast and still have some in reserve but it's not totally wasted like a big ass vee aite who could go on the highway in 2nd gear.
>>
>>17345359
Fuck me. Here they cost half the price, and unlike 3rd world Americans, we actually earn a decent income
>>
>>17346994
IIRC journos call the BRZ steering some of the best in any car on the market today so perhaps that's a high standard to be holding a hopped up econobox to.

>>17347039
I don't disagree so much as I feel like the car has chassis, tires, and suspension meant to get the car around a corner at speeds that will get you arrested and summarily executed should you try it on a public road and not enough power to break the rear end loose on a whim. (shitty rear tires will probably solve the problem)
>>
>>17347118
I see what you mean. The WRX really can be pushed well beyond the "legal limit" with ease much in the same way a 600CC sport bike can be pushed well beyond the "legal limit" with ease.

If you're looking to go full out but stay within legal limits I'd easily say the BRZ is the best option, and if you crave a bit more power in it like most people do you can buy a decent turbo. Unfortunately at "decent turbo" prices you start running into the thought that "maybe I should have bought a car with more power to begin with".

I hope this isn't you, that video is very cringey
>>
I would consider a BRZ, but at the same time I could use the money to get a decent MR2, fix it up nice, and kill myself in style
>>
>>17347328
I POSTED IT AGAIN MOM!!!!
>>
>>17345260

But I could buy something better second hand for "young people prices"
>>
>>17347236
Yeah some of it might be a gearing thing too. You can't even top out 2nd gear within the speed limit on most public roads.

thats where they fucked up. NA cucks are delusional

> How many fucking times will my car leak oil and how much oil does it burn?

INFINITY

> Car knocking all the time, better not have any fun
> Struts and all suspension clunks and shits itself
> Entire car is like being in a shopping cart every time you go on a road that isn't immaculate (sounds like one)

Should I go on?
>>
>>17345274
A completely base wrx would be more expensive than an optioned out wrx but used the brz and frs are always cheaper because the vapers tax.

I have the 04 STI shown >>17348026
Went to install a new defi oil pressure sensor under the alternator and when putting the belt back on, the fucking bracket snapped. Cheap shit metal. Cost me $62 for a new one and had to remove the power steering pump to remove it.
