Yeah bitch
Are you a boomer?
Some American cars like this one are just so damn ugly.
Especially when compared to European cars of the same time.
>>17339671
Here's a same year yuro car
>>17339671
Americans have always been behind in auto design
Gran Torino is a really good movie.
I mean damn Japan went from being nuked to making one of the best looking cars ever in 20 years
>>17339686
It is but wrong year, his was a 72.
>>17339688
>S30 is my favorite car
>Still like American cars from the same Era too
>Yurop as well
Is there something wrong with me?
Also Japan took cues from the US in the 70s as well, look at the first Gen Celica, especially the fastback. It's a stellar design that blends cues from both.
>>17339671
I think the appeal of American classics is that they look like real life HotwheeIs. European car design came to be from a completely different understanding of beauty and purpose.
>>17339695
Not all American cars are ugly. Just that one.
>>17339707
>>17339699
>>17339707
noice
>>17339702
Not OP, but the Torino personally, I can see why one wouldn't. A Type N/W is one of my pipe dream cars, special version sold only in the Northwest, with a 429 Cobra Jet.
Though Europeans did come up with some outrageous designs every now and then.
>>17339695
all 3 made a lot of good and a lot of ugly cars
but man the American design lacked especially when it came to stuff like landbarges
its like they just said
LOL LETS MAKE THEM BEEG AND AGGRESSIVE
they look so silly
sporty shitboxes forever
>>17339724
I guess I have a soft spot for slabs. But I can see what you mean.
>>17339721
Outragous in a good way in this case.
>>17339677
Thank god American cars didn't look like such a piece of shit.
>>17339683
That looks like an honest to god first gen Corvair.
Those who are jealous of coke-bottle styling hate what they can't have.
>>17339731
I see we are beginning to reach an understanding
>>17339724
Best post except the 60s American landbarges were the best
>>17339739
>hate what they can't have
>>17339739
The majority of crestored cars on my country are Australian and American imports.
Some look nice but I still prefer european cars.
>>17339741
yeah but american car design went downhill post 1972
>>17339747
Technically it already went downhill in 1957 and then only sobered up for its own good in the early '60s. Fins and excessive chrome trim were a mistake.
>>17339744
Uh anon, they sold those here in Buick Dealerships back in the 70s.
We did have those. They even has a small cult following over here and were kind of liked back in the day because they reminded people of tiny C3's, but other sports cars (namely the Z and some brit stuff) began overshadowing them.
>>17339739
it doesnt look that close to one
sure it was influenced by but the Corvair influenced a shit ton of designers
>Those who are jealous of coke-bottle styling hate what they can't have.
so nobody is jealous of it?
>>17339752
agreed
I hate all those chromes and fins
>>17339744
awww it looks like a mini-Corvette
>>17339745
You can prefer whatever you want but the outrageous popularity of the classic American muscle car across the world speaks for itself.
>>17339747
This is about the time when American cars either got super fat or super small.
>>17339741
Why the fuck would anyone de chrome a classic cadillac?
May aswell get a cheap 80's / 90's car because that's what they are making it look like
>>17339747
Did hit a low point mid 70s through the 80s in some cases. No argument there.
>>17339755
>it doesnt look that close to one
Yes it does.
>>17339724
See I love American landbarges but I'm not the biggest fan of the sports cars.
>>17339764
no not really
if you want a real Corvair ripoff you get the NSU Prinz which is a babby Vair
>>17339767
Challenger is about as much of a sports car as a Datsun is luxury,
>>17339769
yeah it pretty much is.
>>17339775
Looks like even more of a piece of shit then the BMW.
>>17339757
>You can prefer whatever you want but the outrageous popularity of the classic American muscle car across the world speaks for itself
And what? Euopean cars like porsches have no following???
>>17339775
Only much better.
>>17339781
its funny because the Corvair looks like cheap trash compared to the NSU and definitely the BMW
we get it you own it so you try to pretend its the best
>>17339786
my nigga
>>17339784
When did i ever say that?
>>17339757
American classics are popular for the same reason that people nowadays think Americans made the greatest contribution to winning WW2 - decades of self-promotion through American media.
>>17339789
>its funny because the Corvair looks like cheap trash compared to the NSU and definitely the BMW
>we get it you own it so you try to pretend its the best
lel as if.
My Corvair both leaks and burns oil and it's still a better car then that turd.
It must suck when you try to outdo something and fail and invariably get compared to the original in a worse way all the time.
>>17339794
Talk shit all you want but America saved western Europe from the Soviet Union.
>>17339781
oh and yeah the Challenger was even marketed as a sports car
>>17339775
>>17339786
>>17339789
These things are cute.
On the Corvair, it looks like a cheap copy of Euro stuff because well, it kind of was, they were trying the Euro thing and it didn't work that well.
Not that anon, but I love Corvair's as well (mostly because GM will never try something like it again), they definitely aren't the best though.
Also the stinger was pretty cool.
>>17339796
And thanks to American political correctness western Europe is now a bigger shithole than eastern Europe.
>>17339789
BMW is debatable
That thing is ugly as fuck compared to the corvair
And I don't even like corvairs
>>17339798
>they were trying the Euro thing and it didn't work that well.
I'd agree with you if the Corvair didn't end up with a style all it's own.
It's like someone tried to crush a beetle but stopped halfway.
>mostly because GM will never try something like it again
Well the Corvair was first to the mid-engine V8 even if it wasn't official.
>>17339799
You did that to yourselves lmao.
All we did was staff the Berlin wall.
>>17339804
nah
that has horrible proportions
I would take the Prinz any day
>>17339809
>>17339809
>Has to prop the rear hood open while tracking
Yuro engineering
>>17339819
>has to
no
>>17339822
>yuros can't make an aircooled engine that won't overheat unless the hood is open.
>>17339822
>Yuro "engineering"
>>17339830
tfw no AMX
i saw one for sale for 8 grand but it needed literally everything and knowing the price of some AMC parts I couldn't do it.
kek
they get triggered by little German shitboxes
>>17339809
>>17339819
>>17339822
>>17339826
I want both, Prinz and Corvair in the drive way being a cute sight.
That said please keep arguing because I like these pics.
@17339838
>so buttraged he can't even reply to anyone anymore.
I guess if GM made a European car better than yuros i'd be embarrassed too.
>>17339826
>fats can't make a rear engined car that won't immediately spin out and kill you
>>17339842
yeah a car that was a complete failure is better than an accomplished shitbox and racer
>>17339841
>That said please keep arguing because I like these pics.
Well i'm about to go drive mine because at least i own what i'm arguing for.
>>17339844
As to date nobody seems to be able to get even the first-gen Corvairs to spin out.
@17339849
>complete failure
>His precious bathtub shamelessly copied it
lmao you couldn't write better irony.
>>17339860
kek literally so mad at it he cant bring himself to reply properly
Corvair just ripped off VW and Fiat anyway
so the only good thing the Corvair did was inspire people to make better cars
>>17339860
>As to date nobody seems to be able to get even the first-gen Corvairs to spin out.
That's because Nader didn't even harp on it spinning from what I remember, it was how it held up in a crash. The Rear engine and older suspention (not that it was worse than any other american car at the time) with the potential to spin out is what made it such a good scape goat to point out flaws in the industry.
Basically nader's a shithead.
@17339871
I don't give (you)s to shitposters.
How does Germany try to copy something and make it worse in every way lmao.
>>17339875
They can drift hektik tho even without power steering.
>>17339877
>says the shitposter
its not shitposting just because it proves you wrong
return to your safe space ya lil bitch
cant believe a car hurt you this much
Can we maybe stop arguing and post beautiful cars again?
>>17339775
>>17339786
>>17339789
I really like the NSU but the roof height compared to the rest of the car is almost cartoony and looks kinda bleh
What about that buick GNU or whatever it was called?
>>17339901
>>17340090
It's not that the roof is tall, it's that the car is small. Smaller than a modern Fiat 500 in fact, and only slightly bigger than a Riley Elf (an Austin Mini with a trunk).
>>17340102
I prefer the tub era 2bh. Especially the Deville has jumped the sharkfin by 1958.
@17339885
I don't shitpost.
>because it proves you wrong
lmao europeen delusion at its finest.
>cant believe a car hurt you this much
Germany b like China lmao copying American shit.
>>17339755
idk m8
>>17339699
euro cars all look faggy and were generally designed to be cheap while looking futuristic.
>>17339744
what about that car makes it not a cheap shitty version of a stingray clone?
>>17340293
american cars all look gaudy and were generally designed to be cheap while looking outdated.

Why are autists saying everyone who prefers european cars is european?
American enthusiasts of european cars are a thing.
>>17340401
Literally just people shitposting to shitpost. Report low quality posts and ignore. I hate what this board has become.
>>17340401
>Why are autists saying everyone who prefers european cars is european?
Because more often then not they are.
>>17339822
I like looking at that picture.
I don't know if I should tip you or applaud...I'll decide after I eat this burger.
>>17340428
why don't you go back to /b/ if you like shitposting so much?
>>17340525

but thats what makes them so damn awesome to drive in current year
>>17340939
There's a difference between classic and outdated. The entire brougham trend that spanned from the early '70s until well into the '90s was a mistake.

>>17341066
>>17341069

>>17343010
>>17339806
The corvair looks like a ficking european car you retard.
>>17339781
It's a two door coupe for sporty driving.
It perfectly fits the definition of a sports car.
>>17343010
>yfw that chrome as well as the chrome behind the doors doesn't integrate into the visual design of the car at all and is simply on the car for the sake of having more chrome on the car
1958 and 1959 were worse years for design than the previous and following ones.
>>17340947the only difference between classic and outdated is fashion.
>>17339744
>Opel
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Most Americans prefer a car that runs more than once a week.
>>17343521
Which euro car? Because i'll bet the corvair was first.
>>17343644
It's obviously an American attempt at creating something that looks more european than American and if you can't see that you are retarded as fuck.
I din't even dislike American cars or the corvair btw.
>>17343644
bruh the styling is obviously European
shame they managed to give it awful proportions
Canada here to save the day.
