Do all the Mazda MX-3 trim levels have TTL (twin trapezoidal link) - passive rear steer?
Looking to buy an MX-3, but all I can get locally is a 1.6... I have this suspicion that only V6s got the TTL.
Thanks for any info. Pic related, it's what I lusted after in high school, 15 years ago. Not something I'd do today...
>tfw my old friend back in 2006-2008 dumped money into a mx-3, use to drag race it
>tfw it was sold in 2010

MX-3 with a few simple mods?
I thought only the Jap MX-6 had the RWS feature.
sounds likes a technicians nightmare.

Copying from Wikipedia, but that's about the only source, everything else is just a copy or rehash:
> For the rear suspension of the MX-3, Mazda used its proprietary Twin-Trapezoidal Link (TTL) technology, delivering benefits associated with active four-wheel steering systems while lighter and less mechanically complicated.
> Twin-Trapezoidal Link technology has been used on a range of other Mazda vehicles before and since the MX-3.
Anyone?

On paper, it seems like a perfect mechanic. Unfortunately, I've never gotten to experience it, and I don't see it as an active feature for cars today.
But, from everything I heard about it when I had my standard steering MX-6, it seemed like in a worst case scenario, it had a fail safe that would return the rear wheels to a static & straight position, while allowing the front to turn as your would normally experience.
I can only imagine it doesn't actually work like that, or else we'd see a lot more on the road.
This looks like a manual, it has diagrams of rear suspension in it on pages 661-671, you guys are smarter than me. Pic related.

Another page from the manual. These are the most telling.
Also a thread by a guy about replacing bushings on the TTL: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=51806

I only smimmed it, but it looks like it just adjusts the toe angle. I was hoping it would be like tractors 4 wheel steering, that could be fun.
