Gonna do an oil change, flush it and then do another oil change
All the while pretending I didn't hear the godawful noise the turbo makes whilst spinning down

I'm headed down to a dealership tonight to checkout an RX-8 Shinka edition. Hopefully the dealership hasn't been feeding me bullshit this entire time, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Other than that I'm going to change my oil in my Celica tonight.

I am going to perform my first oil change this weekend on my Honda Civic. I got the following equipment:

-Castrol 5W-20 (as per manual) synthetic oil
-Fram PH7317 filter
-14 pc. metric combination wrench set. I wanted only the 17mm but I got cucked into buying the set because they weren't being sold loose. Initially I got a ratchet set but then I did a quick google search and found people saying that using a ratchet is a bad idea because you could screw the drain plug too tight and damage the thread so I returned it and got the wrenches instead. I wanted a torque wrench to precisely screw the drain plug in to the torque stated in the manual but I couldn't find one so I guess I'll just aim to make it snug, but not too snug.
-(2) 3 ton Motomaster jack stands
-CERTIFIED 2 ton hydraulic jack
-plastic drain pan
-14mm washer which I hope will fit the 17mm drain plug

I am having some anxiety about going under the car and I am not sure how long I should run the car for to warm it up prior to performing the oil change. I opened the hood and found the arrow pointing to the jack point. I am hoping that the beam it seems to be pointing to is the correct spot for jacking the car up because it looks thin looking from the top. Tomorrow I will check my manual again and hopefully will find some information about the jack points.

Just take your time. We've all at one point had to do an oil change for the first time. It might take you a few hours, but eventually you will be able to do a change in like 10 minutes.

Do you have a Harbor Freight around you, assuming you're in the US? Their torque wrenches can be had for about $15, and they're decent from the factory. Use it for 6 months or so, then toss them if they're out of spec, then buy new.

I was in that position a year ago. Get a hockey puck or something to avoid damaging the jack point. Whenever I jack mine up I usually do it the night before. I figure that if the stands will fail, it will be sooner rather than later. Good luck.

Yeah again about the quality. My phone keeps turning to that setting inexplicably. I have no idea how to change it and I've played around with the settings. Cheap android phones just take really shitty photos. When I owned an iphone three years ago I never had any problems with the camera. All the photos came out nicely rendered, not grainy discolored shit.

Basically the last car in my garage is this Camaro, which I thought was abandoned because I have never seen it driven, but it moved recently due to construction.

Drop the fuel tank, start preparing to replace all the fuel lines due to my suspicion that the whole thing is varnish central. 8 year old fuel from the tank all the way to the injectors.
So, tank drop and clean. Replacing all the rubber hoses with new ones, may even upgrade to braided. New filters, obviously. And then I'm gunna soak the fuel pump unit in seafoam, hopefully clear the varnish on that. Then run more seafoam through the metal hardlines on the system, and when it's all done, throw it all back together, and run a heavy seafoam/gas mix through the lines, to hopefully clean out the injector hoses and injectors themselves.

lol yep, dealership was full of shit. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm ever going to find a Shinka RX8. Every single one of them has a dying engine. I went to the dealership and they ran a compression test and the engine's health was horrible. The salesmen on the phone repeatedly said the engine was in great shape, but typical dealer bullshit they just want to try and get you to come in. At this rate I might as well buy a dead rx8 and just swap in 1.3L R3.

Oh, I know. And it only get's worse when you're trying to find a popular car. RX8s do not sit for a long period of time, they sell rather quickly. Despite me telling the salesman that the engine is just waiting to die, they came back and would only take $1500 off their original price, which was 10k. I almost feel sorry for the next sap that walks in and tries to buy it. If they don't know what to look for they're essentially going to pay 10k for a car thats engine is dying.
