Had a '96, was pretty fun. Dropped a JDM 3SGE and did a Curren front end conversion with friends over a weekend, was still pretty anemic, but overall not so bad and parts were not too expensive.
Coilovers were stupid rare and hard to find back then for it, so I ended up leaving it at stock height and put PIAA foglights up front and pretended I was a rally driver on gravel backroads. IIRC only fully adjustable set I found new was 2500 dollars.

Can't say anything for the standard Celica, but i've driven a GT-four and it was fantastic.

My GF of 8 years had a red T230. We broke up about two years ago, and every time I see this car, I cry a little bit. Maybe she wanted to get rid of me, like maybe I was keeping her from dagumi'ing it up on the t00j.

This, unless you get a 4WD, but we didn't get them in that generation over in burgerland at least. (We did get the previous one's GT-Four just badged as Alltrac Turbo)

I like the 93 Celica body more.

Integra for people with no taste.

No it isn't.
I currently own a 94 st202 (rev 3 3sge). It is a good first car or even better a slightly less cheap shitbox to hoon around. Bonus- it is a toyota after all. I had no issues with a car for a year now.
Would recommend.

worthless unless GT4.
Thankfully gt4 is dirt cheap here.
