CALLING POLICE NOW
Knowing bolt on mods DO NOT increase value and fabrication mods at best are worth 1/3rd of what gets spent; and that even the worst CL sellers are vastly better than CL buyers and texting tirekickers.
What is the most common asking price markup in your area?
My best success has been asking 180% to double what my last few cars were worth so lowballers asking for half off in their first text would at least get a functional reply instead of radio silence from me.

>>17313616
Do you have a better one for selling 2-5k cars and not getting lowball/scrub/know-it-all mechanic spammed for months?
>I got 1k cash, a ps3, and an AR lower. could be yours today for your truck
>I've owned 4 of those and with that color combination/engine its only worth 1/3rd KBB
>KBB screenshots of a 400k mile poor condition car passed as evidence for the 120k mile good condition maintained car
>endless negotiation by texts and nobody shows up
Marking up on initial posting then dropping the price as time went on greatly reduced this shit. Sell fast-Price low works on more valuable cars, but if you're trying to sell something like that, Ebay or Autotrader are worth it.
>>17313649
>Do you have a better one for selling 2-5k cars and not getting lowball/scrub/know-it-all mechanic spammed for months?
Yes you put the price you want down and tell people it's firm in the add, maybe be able to take 2-300 off
doubling the price is going to turn off honest buyers who don't play that lowball bullshit game and don't want to insult people by offering half what they are asking even if that is what the car is worth
by pricing the car at twice what it's worth you are just begging for the lowballers to come in
>>17313652
Where are these 'honest buyers' you speak of on CL? Especially for cheap old cars? Everybody wants a deal for no effort, won't even show up tirekick or spit on the thing. Asking 3800-4k on a 2500 car IS inviting lowballers (which all cheap CL buyers are), and instead of giving BS 1k offers are throwing 1.8-2k offers which I can counter offer near what the car's worth.
Double is for 800 dollar cars, because for anything listed under 1k people want to pay less than pick'n'pull would for a functional but rough car.
This is all Central CA/Sac trends though, where are you at where CL isn't populated by assholes?

Electronic components on OG Xboxes are also prone to crap out with age. Caps die easily.

Been looking at this for a bit, it's been for sale for a few weeks. Might e-mail them and ask if they would take $300.
It's been on Craigslist for a month now and he updated it 9 days ago

Friends got one, these things are pieces of shit, FWD, shitty 80s plastic interior, weight reduction is pretty much exclusive to the back half of the car, hard to find parts, but fits old sentra parts, my friends had a blow head gasket and coolant leak. Save up for a better 80s shitbox senpai
Serious question. How stupid would it be to buy this as a DD?
>>17335261
I'm looking at small SUV's and mini trucks mostly but this thing caught my attention.
>>17306512
I'd still take it for a good project car.
>repaint it completely
>rebuild engine
>endless interior detailing
>make it run smoothly again
>daily that bitch and keep it as stock as possible
>show it the love and tlc it never got
>never sell car
>keep it until I'm 90 and dying in my bed
God dammit /o/ stop making me want to recklessly spend my money ;-;

depends on how much you like living

My life and wellbeing aside. It would also be used for two 2500 mile round trips every year.
Serious question, why are Geo Metros so expensive now? I seem people posting these unwanted turds for $1,500-2,500 in good condition tops. I unironically want one but come on.

Well to have a cage welded in is going to run 500-600 alone, so it's more like 400 for a shell.
This is a decent price for the purpose of racing or drifting. Literally impossible to do it cheaper any other way. Not to mention all the labor that went into stripping the interior and removing sound deadening material, any other prep for motorsports

Is it common for sellers on Craigslist to never list the engine miles or post pics of the car?
Looking for babby's first car.
Trying to find a near bulletproof DD, saw nothing bad on car complaints, no bad reviews, no open recalls for anything important.

Aftermarket parts are a big red flag. Especially since the owner isn't offering to bundle the stock parts with them, could mean that this is a restoration job done on the cheap.
Not to mention that you said you wanted bulletproof: always remember that Aftermarket=Unreliable until proven otherwise
If you really want the best value in used cars consider 15yr-old Honda Accord.

Damn I didn't know Jimmy's had an option for that. I know GM had a few digital dashes back in the day in the C4, certain F-body models and a few others, but didn't expect that from an S-10 or a Jimmy.
