not at all. I now have over 200 HP but constantly worry about some pointless shit failing, while I never had to worry about my shitty 80's engine with its lack of charge, EGR, sensors, timing chain etc. It was underpowered as fuck for modern standards, but in reality it didn't matter at all, I could still do 130 km/h which was enough. And with a carb it felt a lot more powerful anyway.

tldr: simple design that is not focusing on MPG or other eco crap is more important than power.
