what is /o/s best choice for best pickup truck you can buy today? which truck is better? list the pros and cons of the truck that you choose and lets compare them all and then figure out which truck is best truck.

ford chevy and dodge are for cucks so rule those out immediately

Nissan is shit so we're left with Tundra

did you own one of those pickups? perhaps you can backup that shitty statement?
>>
>>17242238
what part of my statement seemed inaccurate to you?
>>
I feel like "best truck" is pretty much impossible to decide. considering there's a ton of difference in use as you go from a Chevy Colorado all the way up to a Ford F450 Dually
>>
>>17242258
But then 'pick up dulleys' are inferior to proper cab over trucks
>>
>>17242248
You did not state why you think the trucks are shit and thus said Ford,Chevy and Dodge are for "cucks" which makes your statement full of shit and makes you sound like an immature little faggot who drives a BMW.
>>
>>17242268
True, but you don't off see an individual, personal use private owner go to a proper cab over truck. You still have the ability to have luxury, personal options all the way up to the F450, which can be important for someone who spends a lot of time in their truck. and although duallys are big, it's still a practical size for someone to get around in if it's their own personal vehicle.
>>
>>17242284
lol ok
>>
If you're looking for new azn is the way to go as much as I hate to admit it. The big 3 are all plagued with emissions related problems and cheap build quality.

Older go for a toyota or idi ferd. Those things are tanks
>>
Chevy's are the only answer if you have a Toyota just kys
>>
>>17242326
Again, it depends what you're needing to do. If you're talking about any serious towing, this latest round of diesels cannot be beat regarding performance, comfortability of towing, and safety of towing. Otherwise yea, an old toyota is a good choice or OBS Silverado (GMT800).
>>
>>17242211
>using cucks unironically

Opinion immediately discarded
>>
>>17242339
Even though the new diesels are tuned and run the best yet, if you're doing tons of towing work in short runs (ie city) it's not worth dealing with them for all the DPF issues. I'd stick to pre-2010 as I've personally had to throw a ton of money at ram and ford over them trying to clean themselves like retarded cats. That being said if you're mostly doing mostly towing on highway it isn't that bad. Even the new heavy trucks aren't worth dealing with for that reason hence why used diesels with no special emission junk or glider kits are such good sellers right now
>>
>>17242358
>using cucks unironically

literally every single person who has ever typed that is unironically a cuck fyi
>>
>>17242389
But that's wrong.
>>
>>17242401
>i-i'm not a cuck. you're a cuck!

that's the next stage for people like you.
>>
>>17242386
>hence why used diesels with no special emission junk or glider kits are such good sellers right now
I think we're starting to approach a bubble on the pre 2008 Chevys and Fords and pre 2010 Dodges as people are starting to see just how far these new diesels are able to go even with all the emissions shit on them. I do agree that short city runs are not good at all for these new diesels, if that's something you do regularly, but again that's why in my first post towards the beginning of the thread I said that there is no one "best" truck. In this case, what kinda driving you're doing would dictate the best truck for your needs.

i just buy what i like really. anything from Ford to Toyota. Only exception is I refuse to buy anything crew cab, with the short bed most of them come with, you're just best off getting an SUV.

For me I buy extended cabs with a """special edition""" package.
>>
Ford raptor. Best truck hands down.
>>
>>17243876
You know that you can get the standard box on the extended cab and the crew cab, right?
>>
>>17244140
that is true, but the crew cab with the extended box is a little to long for my taste.. besides hardly anyone car pools with me since my friends or relatives have their own cars to get around, even if they did they would fit in the back seats of a extended cab perfectly, just let the largest one sit in the front. it's perfect to store tools and shit that i want in cabin rather than the bed, not too big either, it's just right.

Crew cabs to me are like family haulers imo.
>>
>>17244195
I own an extended cab, and I've found myself wishing I had the room of a crew cab on several occasions with regards to fit people, or cargo that I did not want put in the bed.

>the crew cab with the extended box is a little to long for my taste
I didn't find the crew cab short bed argument from your first post to be a relevant argument since you could get the truck with a standard box, but this is legitimate, if you aren't comfortable maneuvering the truck with the longer length and wheelbase.

>>
>>17245089
exactly my thoughts. I am a chevy guy so this was my go to anyway but I considered the ecoboost and decided I want willing to risk reliability since I plan to keep this truck for a long time.
>>
>>17244725
>>17244794
Bought it yesterday, right? Good choice on the pickup. Never been too big of a fan of black pickups though. They get really hot in the summer and show scratches too easily, especially when you get into mesquite.
>>
>>17245097
Right on. Yea, I'm a Chevy guy as well. Ecoboost performance is tempting, but I value reliability too much to go that route. I also need 3/4 ton pickups, so the ecoboost thing ended up being a moot point. Any pics of your truck?

>>
There is no such thing as good consumer grade pickup truck. They're

SHIT FOR HAULING
The cargo area is high up, so harder to load and unload, and compresses the suspension when full. This puts a worse height and weight limit on your cargo than just pulling a fucking trailer. The cargo area is also probably pretty damn short. You can always buy a longer trailer, but you can't just get a longer bed without getting a new truck or nigger rigging up a wooden extension out the tailgate. As an added bonus, what towing capacity you have is garbage until you go up a tier into actual work trucks, which are basically semis with an attached bed for contractors who are too bad at driving to pull a trailer.
SHIT FOR DRIVING
Slow to accelerate given how much power they have, slow to turn, and quick to roll. Trucks are disabled as far as pavementgoing vehicles go. Like fat people walking uphill.
SHIT FOR OFFROADING
Long wheelbases, too big for tight spots, and too heavy for soft ground. Unless modified into what are basically jeeps with the back top cut off, don't bother.

Toyotas don't have the full numbers for towing and payload that RAM/Ford/GM have, but their trucks are definitely made better. You can wave your dick all you like, but domestic trucks lack quality control and use cheap parts. It's the trade-off you make for buying one. If Toyota made a truck that could haul 20,000lbs it would probably cost $100,000.

I thought you were maybe talking about up north where they salt the roads and GM wax coated frames were not a great choice, for example.

Toyota trucks are best i have a 1999 Tacoma it's been very reliable unlike the chevys and dodges i have owned in the past. My friends got a 2002 Tundra with 340K on it and it's pretty clan except for some rust in the bed someone sprayed a bedliner over.
>>
>>17249322
Sad thing is, I picked it up for $1500 CAD, fixed it myself for $1500 (all calipers, rotors, pads, leaf springs, belts, tires). Looking to let it go for $5-6 and that a great deal, people don't even want to come test drive it. 4x4 works great, tranny shifts great, no rust problems on the frame. If it wasn't such a pig on gas I'd definitely DD it.
>>
>>17249396

>picked it up for $1500CAD

There's something wrong with it then. Either it's salvage branded or it was in a wreck, OR it's got insane mileage.

Or you're not being entirely truthful.
>>
>>17249519
Got the carfax from VINbro.

Bought it from a friend who worked for a construction company and it was a fleet truck. 340,000 kms (216,000 miles) on it now, I bought it at 320,000 kms. He got it at as a bonus for the quarter and the thing needed $3000 in work quoted by the stealership. I did the work myself for half the price.

No salvage title or has it been in a wreck, all original body work and the frame is completely fine. Only thing that's bad on the body is the tailgate, which is scratched and has a nice dent/gash in it.

Everyone shits on them here, but I have the new Titan and it's been pretty great. Regular cab, SV 4x4 with the comfort/convenience and the towing package.

They really aren't that expensive, especially when I got mine Nissan had $5000 off to push these things, ended up costing around $31,000 before TTL. Getting the regular cab takes the price down alot.

It's been pretty great, I have ~8000 miles on it and have used it to tow a few times, and have hauled a bunch in the bed. The engine is powerful and it's pretty quick (at least for a truck, ~6.3ish to 60). Interior is also great. My only complaint is the transmission can be a little unsure and shifty around 40 mph.

>>
>>17245899
This. It's fine for bringing it onto the beach for fishing or whatever but you can't tow well with that thing. For such a big truck (for you) it's so weak
>>
>>17249647
That's a good looking truck. Don't see too many RCLB trucks anymore, or those Titans for that matter.
>>
>>17245248
Good choice on the color there. What is that, burnt rust?
>>
>>17249755
Yea, I will say that I saw a dude out by my ranch hauling a gooseneck trailer with cattle one time, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that on a regular basis considering brakes are your weak point on a half ton truck (really any truck for that matter with a heavy enough load)
>>
>>17249791

Burnt ass.

It was colored using the inflamed anuses of RAM drivers.
>>
>>17242198
A wagon or van, because your shit doesn't get wet or stolen
>>
>>17249879
How do you tow gooseneck trailers then?
>>
>>17249907
Rent a uhaul
>>
>>17249932
Do uhaul pickups have gooseneck balls? Also, that's just spending more money.
>>
>>17249941
Not everyone needs to tow a gooseneck trailer every day (or even ever at all) but still needs other capabilities of a truck.
>>
>>17249985
I still think a van is inferior in certain respects as far as what you can fit in it, like pallets of brick or corn, or the kinda stuff that you wouldn't want in a sealed cab with you, like buckets with chemicals in it or containers with gas or diesel in them.
>>
>>17249812
Yeah same I wouldn't put that kind of stress on a tundra on the regular. A guy I work with tows trailers with pallets of brick pavers all the time with his tundra and he's really pushing it to the extreme on the regular and eventually it's just gonna not take it anymore. I feel bad for the truck itself I wish he wouldn't abuse it like he does but he's gonna learn his lesson some day
>>
>>17250026
Yea when it comes to towing heavy. A lot of more inexperienced people really overlook the braking aspect of towing. Just because your truck can pull it doesn't mean it can stop it. That's one of the biggest benefits you're getting when you step up to 3/4 ton trucks is heavy duty brakes.
>>
>>17250026
Yea I know a guy who really maxes out 1/2 ton trucks, but it's because he can't afford anything else and he destroys everything he owns
>>
>>17242268
>>17242285
That and for someone who doesn't really have to worry about the slight utility advantage of a cab over, a regular dually F350/3500, etc is much, much safer in a crash.

Literally any of the big 3 one tons. F350/F450 probably have the durability crown, but it's super close, Silverado and Sierra 3500 have the approchablity crown, Ram has the "can install Cummins sticker" crown.

Japan can't compete in the full size segment, and the Tacoma is having it's reputation destroyed by the updated new model because of powertrain woes.

Resale value, top 5, starting from 1
>Tacoma
>F350
>Colorado

2500s are inbetweeners, not going to win any superlatives, but honestly unless you have a 5th wheel trailer, you'll do fine and have a much better time when you aren't towing if you pick a 3/4 ton.
>>
>>17250857
cabovers are fucking death traps. It's the only reason I have a Silverado 2500 instead of a crewcab LCF, the LCFs are cheaper to buy if you are looking at 5 year old trucks, and as a toy hauler, they are a lot more capable and a lot easier to maneuver. But they are much less safe and they are a little less comfortable on rough roads.

As a commuter, they're great. No power to speak of, but you'll be getting fuel economy on par with most V6 sedans, and you'll have a truck bed.

Women don't have to have any issues loading stuff into pickup trucks. Try not being a sub-manlet or something?

Trailers are fucking annoying and pointless unless they're 15+ feet or big enough to haul car. I don't know why you think they can't tow. Even a babby half ton will tow enough to need a commercial license in Europe.

>trucks are slow

Last time I checked, This is faster than most "performance" cars in Europe.

I've got a 17 Ridgeline Sport, about 2500 miles on it. Comfy AF, launches to freeway speed just fine, and 26mpg as a daily driver ain't bad. Built-in bed liner & storage is great.

Who needs a real truck when an open-top minivan does plenty for a weekend warrior.
>>
I drove a pewter '02 Frontier crew cab with the extended bed in high school, it was fucking great. It's a damn sexy looking truck IMO. Seemed solid and had plenty of pep for how big it was. My dad drives it now, it has 180k miles so far and doesn't feel like an old truck at all. I absolutely love the interior, it's so basic yet tasteful and is comfy as hell.

Before that my Dad drove an '87 Nissan pickup, I used to shift gears for him all the time. I learned to drive manual on my grandpas '91 model of the same truck, which he still drives when he needs a truck. Those things are indestructible and just werk, tons of mexicans around here still use 80's-90's Nissan pickups as work trucks.
>>
>>17247203
Have you actually driven a modern, full sized truck? They're fucking fast dog. They're not beating a sports car but they ain't exactly struggling to chug up hills
