Need some advice regarding my first car.
I'm looking for something within 2500-3000 euros, living in Eastern Europe.
Currently considering a BMW E46 facelift Touring. I like it because of the looks, plus I heard it's one of the better BMW series. (Also, it's not as common as the sedan version; would like to get something a bit uncommon.)
I plan to buy some coilovers and wheels, unless I can get those as part of the purchase, but that's for later.
Good choice or should I look for something else? What other cars can I get for this price? Thanks.

if u get the 20d or 30d then yes mate
You must be such a boring person with a mentality of 50 years old. Buying a touring

Yeah, those were my options, wasn't looking at the gas engines anyway

Maybe, you got any other suggestions? I think a well-done touring stands out more than your usual sedan version. Everyone here has got a sedan, few have a touring though.

How much is car insurance in eastern Europe?
As a new driverj in the UK you aren't getting insured on an E46 for less than a few £k

E46 is a money pit. BMW sorta used it as a testbed for the new technology that was gonna be a bridge between the E36 and E90 and it showed.
Prepare for lots of electrical gremlins. also dont get the 320 models with the 4cyl (N42 engine with variable valve lift i remember)as the vanos system fucks up pretty often.

Depends on where you are. As you say eastern Europe, Bimmer parts are cheap and easy to get there, don't listen to all the murifags sayin "ah bimmer moneypit lala", e.g. here in Germany parts are dirt cheap. If you really wanna cheap out buy a E36, parts are everywhere.
Also if you really want a E46, listen to

Don't buy a 4cyl. They got a whole list of problems that even the facelift didn't fix.
The 320s are way better, but still got the shitty vanos which Breaks down. If your lucky though, a 320 can be a cheap and fuel saving 6cyl. Just don't fuck with the vanos.
Also the Diesels are known having shitty turbos which break down frequently.
I don't know how insurance is with the E46s, but maybe you could have a look at an Audi A4 B6 Avant, same price range and probably cheaper to insure and if you go for the 1.8T (watch Out for broken Turbos) way less fuel consumption.
If you want a cheap and reliable but ugly Car, buy a Passat 3BG.
Get a 2001-2005 Lexus IS200 SportCross instead. MUCH better reliability than the BMW, and just as fun to drive (51/49 weight distribution, 2 liter straight six, 6-speed manual and rear wheel drive). Pic very much related. I adore this car.
Goddamn, look at this god machine.
Excuse me, I'm just taking a wank

maybe, but its eastern europe, not much lexus to choose from its kind an exotic animal, but we got vw, merc, bmw plenty

It's an old Lexus. I've seen plenty for sale on various eastern european sites. You could also look for the "Toyota Altezza Gita", which was the JDM version. I've seen a bunch of those making their way to Russia etc. The cool thing about the Gita was that you could have it with 4WD as well. Even on the 2JZ-GE engined model!

Engine is pretty much bullet proof regardless of mileage, but suspension work sounds expensive.

are you Romanian ?
The 318i is the best E46 to buy ( must be the facelift version )
