Was taken at Mclanes Cumberland, hope you never have to go there. Story was he mistakenly turned off some backwater Kentucky highway on to some even more backwater Kentucky road. Hit a tree branch going around a curve. Drove it the remaining 40 miles to the receiver and tried to check in. Receiver noped since you have to back in a door to get turned around to leave. What you can't see is the basically one lane road to that trucks left with trucks parked on either side and trucks in line to check in, the basically one way road I'm on with trucks parked on either side and trucks behind me trying to check in, and the guard shack that is around a super tight 90 degree turn and down a steep hill. Poor guy had to back up from the guard shack around the turn, then squeeze down the road behind me. During this feat of trucking Mclanes shift change happened adding probably 50 cars into the mix. Took about 15 people helping and probably 90 minutes. I would have set the brakes and started walking to the nearest bus stop.

Some bluegum in Nig Orleans ripped a big ass hole in my trailer earlier today. I thought my day would be shot waiting on repairs but I got sent to this shop up the road and a pack of methed out coonasses went HAM on my shit, they had it completely fixed before my 30 min break was up. You could barely understand what they said because they speak coonass over there but I was assured that my roof was sealed up "tighter than a bullfrogs asshole". Top kek.

Bretty sure I'm gonna end up quitting DHT and just be a cuck tier tow truck driver for myself. I can't handle the combination of being broke and away from home.
>>
>>17222032
I would've thought it was the combination of working your ass off and still being broke but whatever.
>>
I don't really understand the split break thing, but do you still end up getting the same amount of drive time in a week if you do splits? I read about it but I really don't get how to calculate what hours you get back.
It's supposed to work like, let's say you were gonna run down your 70 in 6 days and restart (that's what I do) you could either
Drive 5 hours, 30 minute break, drive 5 hours, ten hour break, repeat
Or
Drive 5 hours, 2 hour break, drive 5 hours, 8 hour break, repeat
Is that right? You still get 60 hours of drive time over the course of 6 days, but splitting only takes 60 hours of breaks, where not splitting takes 63 hours of breaks.
Am I understanding that right?

You live in or nearby oil country in Texas don't you? Why don't you see about a job hauling potable water to rig sites. Up here in Ganada it's done with straight trucks and is day work.

I don't consider the 8/2 to be all that useful since it basically means you have to sit somewhere for two hours. I do use it occasionally for short hops to a shipper/receiver when I've been delayed but for a normal day I don't.

And what you get back is the lesser of either the 11 or 14 when you went Sleeper. So if you sat around all day and changed to Sleeper with 2 hours on your 14 that's all you're going to get back at the end of the 8.

Why not 60 tonnes?

It seems that only Australia, Scandinavia and the Netherlands are truly into trucking.

Rest of the world, please step up your game. There's no excuse not to.
>>
>>17224847
Germany's working on it, we legalized longer combinations this year, higher weights are going to be the next step especially if our cargo rail stays stagnant. But you can't introduce it all at once without drawing criticism to it.

>>17224977
I wouldn't call 25% more bhp and torque 'effeminate' but maybe you base your opinion purely on looks.
Also:
how's a more efficient truck 'decadent'. to me it would seem that a less powerful longnose that carries less but is aesthetically pleasing (to some) is more decadent that just a truck that get the job done as efficient as possible. but hey, that's me.

>>
>>17225069
>"Why?"
In the OP it says 44 tonnes like that is a high limit.
As with any child my fascination with trucking is directly proportional to the weight of said trucking.
And sure, i understand that trucking is not about always being at the absolute maximum, so in day to day life increasing that maximum wouldn't change a lot but it really fascinates me that it is possible.
also: when driving 1000+ km/miles it makes sense to do that fully loaded. (so collect to-, and distribute from- distribution centers and fully load the trucks driving between them) on shorter distances it is more economical to combine as much as possible but only use 1 truck. (thus saving the costs of dc's.)

>Got e'
Just fucking with you Eurobro.

Ganada is a little different for max weight than the US.

Lots of trucks for use in logging, oilfield, mining and construction are tri-axle truck and tri-axle trailer setups that can haul a max of 53,500 kgs (117,947 pds).

B-Trains can do 63,500 kgs (140,000 pds), and tandem tractor, tri-axle trailers (the most common setup I see) can do 46,500 kgs (102,514 pds).

>>17225115

Not going to happen with 95% of spot market freight, sonce they write exclusive use of equipment clauses into the rate agreement. I've had to haul a single 400lb pallet from Illinois to Texas and couldn't put anything else on the trailer because it would be a breach of contract. The commodity you're ignoring is time, and that's part of what my customers are buying.

Because not every load is a bunch of flowers. People manage to stuff 70,000 lbs of liquids into 20 ft tank containers. The whole package then weighs 80,000 lbs. That's as much as your entire rig maxed out.
>>
>>17225193
44 tonnes is the highest permissible weight across the entirety of the EU; the long combination countries Netherlands, Sweden and Finland notwithstanding. It specifically applies to containerized goods in combined transit (from and to rail transport or ship transport). For all other trucks the limit is 40 tonnes.

Find practice tests online. Permit test is really easy and basically the same across all states. The actual license test is slightly more difficult so you want to make sure you understand the brake tests.

If you're anything like me, try and find a tractor-trailer to practice in because doing the tests in an actual truck for half an hour will probably help you learn more than reading the book for a month.

Company drivers are I think 45 or 46cpm and extra 5cpm if they opt for a lightweight. They also get fuel bonuses for good fuel mileage and shit.

Lease ops get 72% of the total load revenue and most average 1.30/mi some more, I'm about 1.45 if I stay in the NE long enough.

Company are 58 on the pedal, 62 on cruise, disciple-tier lease ops are 65 on pedal and cruise and both cut to 1500rpm although I can rev up to 1800 to jake down a hill in a pinch if I have to

No nanny cams, but you will have On Guard which is actually pretty cool for fog and to set your speed and shit and see how fast people are going, and they have Lane Assist too.

You can coast up to 77mph and you get 30 seconds of 78 or higher before safety calls.

Compared to a lot of the mega carriers they give you a lot more freedom. Hometime, easy if you're lease. Company drivers get a day for every week they drive.

I won't say to sign up for the lease program but if you do you had better know your shit and be prepared to go 60mph everywhere lol. Their lease program is not horrible but it ain't the best in the industry. We do make more than most people though you just have to have basic business knowledge of profit, loss, revenue, costs and shit like that.

Our company drivers get paid well too.

8/2 is designed for the days when you deliver one load and wait to pick up another load. Your 14 gets shot to hell waiting for the next load but you still have a bunch of time on your 11. When you go to SB or OD for 8hr you get back what was left of your 11 the day before and it can help you get a jump on the next run. I've used it to make appointments and beat rush-hour traffic.

Plus, you can use that two hours you have to sit for a shower and laundry or if you run hard like me, a well-deserved nap. It's a very useful tool in the box but like any tool it's useless if you don't know how to use it.

Our pay scale blows most companies out of the water even for our company drivers. Come on over and make some money. We gets paper.

You gotta stay out though if you don't mind grinding. The longer you stay out the more you make. I have had weeks I grossed 5K and kept over 2K of that after fuel and expenses. You don't need to be lease to make bank here, hell most of our company drivers bring home 1K a week. You just have to stay out for a bit.

normal drivers are too stupid to be trusted. I don't want to be liable for some retard that hits the wrong pedal and goes flying off the deck. Also you should really scrap that car if it's frame is so light and old you can't winch on it. The truck is breddy nice, rides good, better torque on than the vulva by a long shot. Better fuel economy as well. As for driver comfort the seat is heated leather, the front portion of the truck(cab) is much more roomy which is nice because I'm 6'4. The sleeper is a bit deeper than the volvo and also significantly wider inside. The only downside from the volvo is its silent inside and because this truck has the side door thing I hear trucks drive by all night. Already at 28000km and i got it at 4500. The automatic is a bit tricky and sometimes when I throw on my jake it revs itself out to 2300 but I just make sure to not let it do that.

Honestly as broken as your body will get delivering soda, there's probably a higher chance of getting killed from a stroke or heart attack after living in the cuckbox.

Also there's the reasonable approach of working hard for a couple years before moving on to a comfy local gig like the fuel trucks. I was talkin to dude a week or two ago who left Pepsi and went there and he's like "Just apply and you got the job. They love hiring people who worked hard at Pepsi for a few years". Or just move to the bulk side of Pepsi or wherever.

Also I'm not a felon like most truckers so I need to get on that fuel truck soon.

Like truck drivers are the only unhealthy Americans. You do know 66% of Americans are overweight or obese, right? Replace truck stop fast food with drive through fast food and the driver's seat with a chair and you've described the average wagecuck just as well. Meanwhile, I can't remember the last meal I ate that I didn't cook myself, jog 3 miles a day, and hit the gym at the terminal twice a week. I'd bet I'm healthier than that soda-water drinking, menthol chugging nigger ever was, and I'm a damn sight healthier than the average wagecuck

Have a question about DMV and DOT PHYSICAL.

I have 20/50 vision in my left, and 20/10 in my right
I've been driving the same route for six years in the same truck, but only now is my company requiring me to get a CDL. I'm going for my CDL through my company.

If I don't get my CDL, I will be asked to resign.. I have a wife and kid, and I'd always thought I had job security. I do my job well, and I've never taken a day off.

>No tickets.
>Never had an accident.

I took my DOT physical, and passed. I knew DEFPOTEC and FELOPZD as the 20/25 and 20/20 line for my left eye.
I cheated, but got my federal DOT physical longform. I passed the DOT Physical.

I'm going in tomorrow to take my CDL permit (been studying, I'll pass)
Is the DMV going to do another vision test on me after I pass the permit? They use the computers. I have 20/10 in my right eye, so I can pass the vision, but if they make me cover that eye I'm screwed.

tl;dr: 20/50 in left eye, 20/10. Got DOT physical. Will DMV make me do a vision test after I get my CDL permit?

Thanks.

Welcome to the rest of the world, faggots. That's how things naturally evolve if the required skill set consists of little more than learning to reverse and getting the correct license. In fact the US are probably one of the easiest countries to truck in, I don't know why you'd expect good wages from it.

>>
>>17247500
Cops don't need probable cause when you are in a commercial vehicle, your rights as an individual don't apply to a commercial setting. You can be pulled over for no reason whatsoever, and they don't have to ask to search your truck, as a commercial vehicle no parts of said vehicle are private and require consent or cause.
>>
>>17247865
The sleeper is private, the cab is not.
>>
>>17247917
The 4th Amendment rights do not hold true for a CMV. That vehicles registered as CMV's are subject to search (aka: inspection) at any time without warrant - even the sleeper cab area and sealed load. Unlike a POV - a CMV is subject to inspection at any time - and you can't tell an officer, no, stay out of my cab unless you have a warrant - as you can with your POV. The only thing a driver can really say no to when it comes to searching the CMV is having his personal items searched. Things such as duffel bags, suitcases, personal books, movies, music, computer, etc.

396.9 (a) Personnel authorized to perform inspections—Every special agent of the FMCSA (as defined in Appendix B to this sub-chapter) is authorized to enter upon and perform inspections of motor carrier’s vehicles in operation.

If you drive a company truck.... you don't have a right to demand a warrant. They can simply call the company and get permission or the company has already implied consent by having an ICC number.

I've never has my cab or sleeper searched, but I have been pulled over for no reason in my truck, which is perfectly legal being it is a CMV.

essentially, if I understand per diem correctly, yes.

Every day you are out away from home on a job that makes you travel you get a per diem from the US Government. I forget how much it is now, anyway.

Lease operators and O/O usually take it as a tax deduction come April. Company drivers, depending on the company, can either do the same, claim it on their taxes, or take it on the side as extra I think, I'm not too keen on company drivers and per diem but I know how the big boys do it and it's a nice deduction at the end of the year.

Some cheapskate shithole companies include your per diem in their .cpm which if I remember works out to .08cpm. If they pay .34cpm, per diem included they actually only pay .26cpm out of pocket.

I'm sure some of the tax experts in here will correct me if I am wrong on this one.

Florida sucks dicks for pay for anything because muh Southern wages even though Jew York carpetbaggers have jacked up the cost of living (Reconstruction anyone? This is what happens when you try to erase Southern history faggots) local companies will be Publix, Walpole if you wanna haul sand, Cumberland Farms if you have your tanker yanker endorsement, and they pay well too, I believe Walgreens has some local shit and pretty much any major municipality is always looking for Class A CDL holders who have all of their teeth and graduated high school.

Prime, FYI, has a flower account in Pierson, FL, which is between Deland and Palatka on 17 and they have a bunch of local guys who deliver to their terminal there, where they combine all the small flower loads from local growers into whatever they can fit into a 53' and send some poor bastard off with it to the North. I know they have flower loads that originate in Miami and drop in Pierson.
>>
>>17251839
You can unload these trailers the same way man. Either a little bit at a time or you can open your gate wide open when the pit is deep and dump as fast ae gravity moves. Tippers are pretty heavy so I imagine that's why farmers are the only people I see with them, and they only have 5/7/10 tonne trucks. I have no idea where you live that you see trains like that but it's not really practical for our company anyways. Canada max gvw is 63,500kg for super b, I scale in empty trailers and full of fuel at 18,000. So I can take 45 tonne. Where as most companies out here only take 42 tonnes at the most when they load up.
>>
>>17252444
I see big 4-axle rigid tippers all the time doing construction stuff, and freight trains hauling aggregates in bottom-dump trucks. Volume volume volume.

More or less.

We start charging by the hour from the time we pretrip the truck to the time we get back to the yard on the field ticket that gets charged to the customer.

The hourly pay we get goes off of that ticket, so the longer the job, the more we get paid.

I like pilot J coffee the most so that's my default. Petro usually has the biggest parking lot and i like how the fuel island has a separate store from the main truck stop, those bathrooms are usually empty. TA is alright, decent coffee. I think Love's is the worst, small parking lots, shitty coffee and tea, weird bathroom layout.
>>
>>17254601
My power rankings
1. New Loves, smartly laid out parking, good food, same shit in every store, great wifi when it works about 50/50
2. Petro, usually great parking, usually good food, interesting nick knacks, the great ones are GREAT, wifi probably won't work
3. Flying J, usually decent parking, good food, wifi always seems to work
4. TA, shit to great, shit to great parking, shit to okay food, wifi probably won't work, the new ones are great, older ones can be terrible
5. New Pilots, good to great food, usually small, dumb parking in the ones I've been to, wifi decent to good
6. Old Loves, smaller and shittier parking than new loves, old and run down, staff less likely to give a shit, some don't even have roller dogs
7. Old Pilots, old, normally tiny or retarded parking, lots are in the middle of cities, avoid avoid avoid

My current beef with TA is I paid $6 for wifi and it worked long enough to charge my card and quit.

Loves is my least favorite but I've been to some good ones. If I'm running hard and I'm doing a take 10 and spin I like Pilot because the coffee is good and they have both quick fast food and usually Flying J deli food too. Pilot is like Loves but w better food and coffee. If I have time to relax and eat a good meal Petro is the best. Usually the parking lot is big with lots of space, Iron Skillet is based, and it's cool they have a separate mini store at the fuel pumps. Also in the mini store they sell some local regional shit from the hot case. Also Petro feels the most like a "classic" truckstop. I mostly hate TA and avoid. Flying J is a good middle of the ground stop, it isn't bad.

Wew lad. You're pretty much always at 63500 when loaded I'm assuming?
>>
>>17255906
I usually load 62.5-63 so if I get stopped for being over I can try and shovel to a different axel group instead of getting a ticket. Manitoba and Saskatchewan generally only allow for 62.5 with a few highways that are exceptions

In my best quarter I somehow got 8.10 mpg average. I was really trying. I never got the promised company jacket and have fucked off since then, now I'm at like 7.1

Like I said, it's almost all in the hills and how hard you try to go up them. If you're hammer down trying to hold speed or even gain on a hill you won't get good economy. Remember, boost is the enemy. You may not have a boost gauge but you can hear it and stay out of high boost as much as possible.

Also, don't use cruise except on nearly level ground. My cruise percentage is in the teens.

So don't floor it up hills? Or just don't get to the highest gears?

I thought CC was better???? I use it like 97%

I feel like I might experience the same thing with Prime and should just preemptively become jaded
>>

You should pull hills at like 1400rpm in whatever gear holds you there

>The set of Corner Gas, and Louis Riel's Land generally only allow 62.5

Really? Are they all signed accordingly?
>>
>>17256072
Nope that's up to you to know. In Manitoba it's only the #1 and like 1 or 2 other Highways. In saskabush it's #1,#16 West of Saskatoon and #11 between Regina and Saskatoon. Probably 1 or 2 others but iono.

Typical, devious flatlanders with their laws designed to trap honest truckers.

This new job is breddy local; the longest drive I've had so far is around three, three and a half hours from town.

>MFW we finished the job and got back to town before the now biblical levels of rain began to fall
>>
>Open appointment pickup at Hershey
>Arrive 1300
>Fast forward to 2200, trailer hasn't been touched
>Several trucks have backed in, got loaded and left next to me
>March over to the shipping dept.
>Inform them I'm not a fucking babysitter I'm a trucker and I'm not being paid to baby sit your load you have until midnight to load me or I will leave the premises and see you at 0600
>Magically 15 minutes later I'm being loaded

Sometimes I want to switch to reefer division because it sounds comfy just sitting at receivers all day playing n64 in my truck

Comfy as fuck indeed.
