You have to weigh the benefit of lower fuel consumption against the value of your own life since everyone on the road will try threaten it because of the way you drive.

My truck gets about 11mpg average. If I did everything they suggest here, which would be a gigantic pain in the ass and would consume my entire life, I may get 13mpg. That would save me about $20 a month. That's a lot less than the hundreds upon hundreds I would spend to follow their stupid recommendations.

I have tried a few times to reach the EPA mileage rating of my car but failed (close miss). After that, I stopped trying to have economical driving because OTHER drivers on the road became very irritated that I would coast up to a stop sign or not have jack rabbit starts like they do. People also want me to speed since I notice them tailgating me.

Now, I could say who cares what others think? If I behaved that way for a month, enough people would recognize my car. If they saw it in the parking lot, they might door ding it or key it. That's the inner city response to asshole drivers who get in the way of others by following the law (not speeding, slow starts, coasting stops, trying to drive economically).

I drive slow and predictable in traffic, but fast and constant when it's clear around
