Now that we live in a world where V6 engines have effectively replaced the V8, automatics transmissions are faster than manuals, and hybrid/electric cars are faster than ones with gasoline engines, how long until FWD becomes the new performance layout for drivetrains?
hmmmmmmm????

the moment laws of physics stop working the way they do.
>>17208165
soon, we just need to update the rear engine, front wheel drive layout
Wasn't the FWD Nissan such a failure that they just gave up outright?
>>17208165
You shut your whore mouth.

Yes
Not because it was FWD but Nissan can't do anything right with their Le Mans projects
never because it physically cannot?

the big debut at Le Mans didn't even have the hybrid system or electric motors in it
don't understand why they even bothered to compete like that

>the nislo gtr lm literally got beat at le mans by v8 powered GT class cars

yep
>Nissan admits failure and pulls GT-R LM Nismo from racing
>After a poor initial showing this past season, Nissan has announced that it won't be returning to the LMP1 class next year with the innovative, flawed GT-R LM Nismo.
>The Japanese automaker hit the endurance racing grid last season trying to exploit a loophole in the regulations with a radical front-engine/front-drive layout... The idea was that it would allow better aerodynamics, with more downforce over the driven wheels and cleaner airflow at the rear. Unfortunately the gamble didn't pay off: Nissan fielded three cars at Le Mans alone (but not at the other seven races in the championship), and none of them made it to the finish line.

I would try to defend Nissan here, but they've literally produced nothing but shit post 2002.
