I am a huge germanphile, am looking at an 87 911 because

>air cooled goodness
>g50 5 speed
>classic 911 aesthetics
>low 5 0-60, feels faster because no abs, traction control
>quality materials

Good examples are going for 40-50k
Am I missing something here? Should I be looking at something else?
Thanks /o/

I love it in black, because it conceals the ugly 5 mph bumpers

Just wait it out, it's the top of a huge bubble in the market right now. They will fall quite a bit over the next few years. Also drive one first, there's no guarantee you will like it, kind of a love/hate driving experience. I don't like them at all personally and I've driven a handful from that era.

Also looks great in guards red of course.
This thing relies satisfies my inner wehraboo and 80s yuppie / Patrick Bateman

Great looking interior, but would like to eventually replace steering wheel
>>
>>17204893
What else would you recommend?
I have driven one, and absolutely loved its - wish it had a little more power on the low end, but loved how twitchy it was at high speeds on the highway.

Price isn't TOO huge of a deal, I don't mind waiting out for a few months for a good deal
>>
>>17204893
>it's the top of a huge bubble in the market right now.
How is it in a bubble? It's not like they don't have any inherent value. Their prices will never go down. Maybe plateau.

They're vintage, air cooled, unique handling sports cars, not fucking beanie babies

Not aircooled obviously, but guards-red and same 80's interior

I don't think you know what that actually means

Don't feed the troll. He does this in any thread about near classic euro muscle.

I'm also considering a 3.0 or 635 CSI.

Also very sexy in my opinion, I've never driven one though. How quick are they? Any info would be helpful

Thank you that's what I was thinking.

If anything they'll probably continue to increase in value - but that's not what I'm buying it for

635 csi vs 911 thread: go
>>
>>17204914
Recommend for what? That's a pretty broad question. Just German cars from that era? M635csi, M6, E31, Ur Quattro, 190e Cosworth all worth a look

>>17204938
Collector car values have been in a boom bust cycle for decades mirroring the strength of the economy, this isn't even the first Porsche boom. Nobody in the business believes that this is "the one" and they will appreciate forever. Here's some interesting reads if you are curious

Yeah there is.

Up near the top right under the board list, go to settings, should be easy to find and figure out.
>>
>>17204964
>this time the values are going to go up and up forever
Sure, just like the housing and stock market. It's very easy to verify that collector car values are cyclical-

>>17204996
I have a 633csi. It's not fast at all, but it's great to drive, they are extremely well built. The M versions are obviously faster but the prices are very high right now.

I advise you to reconsider your life choices in regards to living sir
>>
>>17205092
Lol! That looks like every dealer in Germany just realized the US was selling half price 930's and put the price where it should be by cleaning out the car lot. The air cooled bubble dipshit talks about is the US simply catching up to rest of world pricing. Most of this stuff is pretty obvious. Whatever is appreciating in price in Europe will eventually also appreciate in the US. There's usually about a two year lag.
>>
>>17204879
I can smoke the fuck out of this in my 2000 EK hatch with a couple of simple mods.
>>
>>17205486
Ya, and I can drop a $2000 turbo on one of my e30's and leave just about everything behind in my rear view mirror. There is more to it than that though.
>>
>>17204879
get a turbo and make stupid power

they are great cars and are fantastic to drive, however you do need to know what you are getting into. They may be nice when they work, but when it inevitably breaks down, things can get very expensive very quickly. 30 year old electronics are bound to fail. And this is a very complicated and over engineered vehicle, thus you need a very qualified technician for any repair. You will also need at least an extra 20k for when the motor blows. But if you cn comfortably afford one, I don't see why not.

>>17205533

I can have just as much in this Porsche than any other with a fraction of the price
