Yeah a hot air intake is good.
When your car is making power, it has to heat up the air so it can be hot when it goes out the exhaust. The hot air intake makes it so it takes less energy to heat up the air. It decreases the parasitic draw on the engine.

It's the same idea as when you are making ramen in the microwave. If you use cold water you have to microwave it for 7 minutes but if you start with hot water you have to only microwave it for 4 minutes.
