Been seeing a lot of talk in these generals about SAI's and CAI's. Do Hondas and Acuras really have restrictive intakes?
>>
>>17157656
Not really, the stock intake performs really good, it's just designed with that big plastic resonator to keep the noise down, which enthusiasts don't like.

From what I researched converting my 4 speed AT
j30a2 accord into a 6 speed MT j30a2 would be the same mounting points, I'd need to custom order a harness (bottom left) though from some guy at the v6p / accord forums. Seams like a lot of hassle so I might end up not doing it at all since it's only for ~65ish more whp. A shame for this car is my car that I learned how to drive.

Yep gonna probably install it tonight. Just picked up my friend's old wrapped eBay header so I won't need that O2 extension harness.

Suck though I still overheated with the new radiator cap but the hoses weren't trying to burst like with the old cap. Really hope it's just air in the system since I was using a hollowed out cap. I think it was sucking in air through the empty coolant bottle. When I got it home hot, I noticed the empty bottle filled back up so I guess the air was expanding? The coolant was still looking clean. pls no head gasket

I seem to be the only D series fag to have heat issues. My buddy has no idea why.

As I went to go pick up the header he told me he heard like five gunshots like 100 feet from his apartment complex. They blocked off this intersection which is usually pretty busy. Don't think anybody was shot but I think they had it blocked off to collect evidence.

How long is bleeding supposed to take? It seems like its taking air in on its own and forcing the coolant out. It's not making the coolant dirty like when the head gasket went out. It's staying pretty clean. Here's what the bubbles were looking like. I turned the heat on shortly after and every second or so a big bubble came up.

I found a crx around my area and almost jumped on it.
http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3714417?ad_cid=1
But after researching I realized the HF only has like 58hp. rip

But then there's this: http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3703301?ad_cid=6
price is down 500 bucks from when it was originally listed :^)
But that rust though. I dunno if I should go for it. I'm starting to doubt I can find a 4th/5th gen civic hatch close to me.

Bleeding for nearly 20 minutes straight. Bubble patterns didn't change at all. Also leaning toward my brake master cylinder making that hissing noise. Had these plugs in the car for the whole time I owned it. Dunno if this will tell me what any current issues are since they've been used for so many miles. That oil on number 3 could be from before the head gasket as I changed the seals on those spark plug holes too.

Running the car again on the new plugs. Aside from a blub in the exhaust at idle here and there it sounds good. Also as I let the car sit off, the coolant I had in the funnel disappeared. Dunno if thats a good or bad thing. It's definitely not on the ground.

Smog tech said my best bets are plugs, wires, and a new O2 sensor before the cat. He also said to make sure the car is really warmed up prior to bringing it in (drive at minimum 20 minutes). I only drove for 5 minutes to get there.

I can tell the spark plug wires are new and previous owner said plugs are new too (gonna pull them and make sure they're gapped correctly right now), but the car is in need of an oil change so I think that's what threw it off.
Still going to replace the O2 sensor either way.

Hey guys, what else should I put a killswitch to? I'm going to have one going to the main PGMFI relay, but not sure if I should also put one for something else, like the fuel pump.

I'm getting a Viper 2 way alarm within the next month or so' the kill switch is just an added measure as with the clutch club.

Apparently she got it passed down to her as her first car, was slightly jelly. She followed me on the way to school while on the freeway--I really wish I had taken her number. Haven't seen her since.

Anyone have any suggestions for stock looking steering wheels I could use a quick release on? Thinking about getting a Gara 3/3 since it's got a center pad. Exposed metal on a wheel makes me cringe. Anything else like it that isn't trash?

>>17171939

>>
>>17172432
Honestly you can make your car theft proof without having a removable steering wheel

if you want ill draw you up a plan on how to do it really easily and in a way that is extremely difficult to defeat
>>
>>17172499

The wheel isn't so much for theft prevention but because my current one is beat the fuck up and bent--OEM that came with the car. Quick release was more so it doesn't get beat up in the car while it's hot af inside and not get stolen, lol.

But sure, send me your thoughts. I'd appreciate any other tips any of you could give me.
>>
>>17172503
What car is it? Could always find another OEM one from a different model that looks nicer.
>>
>>17172507

'93 Accord CB7, with maroon interior and metallic brown exterior. I was thinking about just getting another Honda one, like the RSX, but I figure since the airbag won't work anyways (Or at least, what I've been told), I may as well go with something aftermarket and nice that doesn't look too out of place or ricey. I'm aiming to keep the car subtle.

Rewiring cruise controls to the dash since t's helpful when driving 5+ hours one way.
>>
>>17172518
If this thread I found is right, these should fit right up.

90-93 Accord (377mm diameter)
94-97 Accord
88-91 Civic
92-95 Civic
92-97 del Sol (371mm diameter)
92-95 Domani
90-93 Integra
94-01 Integra
88-91 Prelude (371mm diameter)
92-96 Prelude

Get you a pre airbag wheel for maximum style points.

Oh shit mate how the fucc. Thanks. I'm going to take a look around. Now just to find one that isn't abused. And pre airbag is the goal. I have another CB7 as a parts car but the steering wheel isn't in the greatest condition in that car either.

eBay might be a good source for wheels. I almost got the EUDM EG steering wheel because it looks 10x nicer than the USDM airbag wheel.

Here you go.

Most kill switches are bullshit because you have to have a switch hidden somewhere to toggle by hand. If you use a reed switch the switch can be hidden behind plastic, carpet, etc and is tripped via a magnet. Meaning unless you know where the switch is to begin with, it is impossible to find. You can also make the reed switch unreachable without first remove the entire dash, and have it activate through the plastic with a strong magnet.

When you get out of your car simply take the magnet with you, or pop it somewhere else and the would-be thief is totally fucked.

If you hide all of the wiring for the switch in the factory loom and put the relay in an inaccessible location, you win.

Of course if a thief took the whole car apart he'd be able to defeat it eventually, but it keeps someone from taking it out of your driveway. (It'll crank and crank and crank)

ICM being disconnected also doesn't throw a check engine light, so unless he gets out and starts checking for spark with a spare spark plug he's not going to know what's wrong. (especially since the fuel pump still primes)
>>
>>17172610
That's some pretty cool shit and looks pretty simple to do.
>>
>>17172683
reed switch costs like a dollar if you buy 10 and relays are like 5-6 bucks

ez pz
>>
>>17171950
Air filter and cabin air filter. I was going to restore my headlights but hadn't looked into it for a while so I was quickly trying to find some clearcoat and sandpaper to go over $25 but yeah that got fucked

I never buy anything interesting, reliable car feels
>>
>>17172610

I'm new to wiring so please excuse my noob question.

So for the reed switch, I would need a normally open switch for this project, correct?

And for wiring to the ignitor, all I'd have to do is follow the cabling all the way to where it's most convenient, splice it, relocate, install switch, and finally complete the circuit at it's original location, right?

Also, what gauge wiring should I be using for this project? I have plenty of 18/2AWG speaker wiring in the garage but it's colored white and I want to keep that hidden.

Thanks guys, you're so much more fucking helpful so far than most I've talked to.

>>17172690

Amazon has a pack of 4 or 5 relays with their sockets for ten bucks or so, I'm going to pick up on that.

You can use either a NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed).

If you use a normally open, you'll need the magnet in place to start and run the car.

If you use a normally closed, putting the magnet in the secret location will keep the car from starting.

Which you prefer is up to you.

The ignitor wiring goes from the ECU through the firewall almost right away. (Since it goes straight to the distributor) What you'd need to do is open up the looming, run wire, and then close it back up.

I made an example diagram for your convenience

As far as gauge goes, any time you increase the run of a wire, you will want to increase the size of the wire. Engine harness is usually around 16-18AWG so you may want to use 14-16

Thanks man, I thought the ECU was someplace else. TIL.

I'm going to be using push button start and switches where the radio used to be, so I've got a lot of wiring to do. I'm going to play it safe and get 14AWG cable in black, thank you.

I have a ton of questions, but to start, how does /hg/ feel about RFID systems for antitheft like this? As an extra layer or in replacement of a reed switch? There's a lot of cheaper options as well.:

The range doesn't matter too much, since I'll be putting it behind a cubby just for my keys. I think I'll be doing the reed switch if no one else has any feedback on those wireless switches.
