I have a 1997 BMW 528i, what are the benefits of getting it registered as historic and are there any down sides?

It will be one day, but not yet. What state are you in?
I have a 40 year old vehicle that I still haven't registered. Because its none of their business yet.

Fuck this nigga. A white E39 was in the intro video to GTA 2. Register.
You can only drive it 1000 miles a year or something like that with a historic registration

Ding ding ding
Your insurance is going to be asking a ton of questions if you get into an accident with a "historic" vehicle you're putting on a lot of miles on.
Found it
>A vehicle registered as historic cannot be used for general daily transportation, or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways. It can only be used in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses. A trailer does not qualify for historic registration. They will not be used for employment, transportation to and from employment or school, or for commercial purposes.
Still want to do it OP?

Glad to see someone else recognising true automotive history.
