What's the rarest car you've seen in person?
>>17138387
mclaren f1 replica
MC12 Corsa
Superbirds and Daytonas
The odd Yenko Camaro
LaFerrarri
A couple 2CV's which are rare for Canada.
maybe a factory five roadster
Either a McLaren P1 or a BMW M Coupe, not such which is rarer.
>>17138387
I used to work for don panoz and drove the only road legal Esperante GTR.
The Deora II. Saw it at the Peterson in LA when I was like 10 and I was super horny for the car ever since I saw Highway 35.
I saw a veyron and a radical once.
>>17138421
And I actually saw that car at Petit Le Mans last year, parked next to the Deltawing road car prototype at the Panoz booth.
was pretty lulzy listing to the Panoz rep explain that to make the DW road car they just chopped the front end off a Buick Regal and bolted it to the back of the DW frame.
Name it and I've probably seen it, thanks to living in LA and going to Pebble Beach and other concours events and to the original Cars & Coffee.
I'd guess that out of cars that saw any kind of production, it'd be a Cizeta V16T (Rodeo Drive concours, 10-ish years ago) or a Vector W8 (C&C, just before they left the old Irvine location.)
I don't have pictures of either of those, so here's a Bizzarrini that I saw race at the Monterey Historics in 2012. I don't think this is as rare as the other two, but it's still pretty uncommon.

Ever seen a non-riced 90's Civic hatch in your time?
i saw a 1920s model t paddy wagon with the original custom wood body and barred windows driving around my town... i know tons were made but its rare to see them on the road

Bizzarrini Strada. Dummies in this thread.

>>17138462
Yes, actually, but I'm 30 so I remember when they were new.
I have a few friends with very tastefully modded Civic track/autocross cars, if that counts as not riced.
Any of the Rotary Mazdas. Just today I saw an RX-8 (autotragic, too) parked at a garage, and the owner was QUICK to deny that he can work on rotary engines.
RHD UK De Tommaso Pantera. Supposedly only 6 in the entire UK.
>>17138387
This, I guess. 1 in existence.
>>17138614
I felt like one-offs were cheating, otherwise I would've posted this thing.
>>17138598
>autotragic rx8
Holy shit I thought you were meme-ing but they actually exist.
Who the fuck wants a 210bhp coupe that drinks a gallon of fuel every 10 miles, needs an oil change every other fill up and has a 4 speed automatic?
>>17138633
Americans. Apparently a clueless one too, since like you said, Automatics are a big no-no for rotaries, and an automatic driver is much more likely to treat a rotary like a normal car. Plus, isn't the Renesis considered to be worse than the RX-7's engine, in power output, apex seal durability, and even fuel economy?
>>17138626
But that's just a modified 928.
>>17138387
A stock EF hatch (usdm so not technically an ef but you get the point)
Morgan Aeromax.
Saw it a month ago. Wouldn't have expected one to exist where I live.
i've seen quite a few crazy cars its hard to say. i got to drive the piss out of a newer BMW M6, sit in the passenger seat of a porsche 911 GT2 while my buddy made me shit bricks
Does seeing them in a museum count? Two for one special, Toyota 2000GT and Nissan Fairlady Z432
I saw an LFA. It's smaller looking in person.

I didn't buy it though, it belonged to my friends parents, it had sat in their garage for the past 2 years undriven since they have 4 other cars they normally drive.
They asked me If I wanted it then just threw the keys at me and said get it out of the garage.
>>17138917
Actually scratch that. This is the rarest car I've seen.

Got to ride in this two weeks ago
Saw a Silver Shadow and a Ghost today
The rarest car I've ever seen while driving was this Enzo. I made a u-turn just so I could listen to that glorious v12
Peel P50 comes to mind, only 47 made. Though to be completely fair that was in a museum. I saw a factory supercharged Qvale Mangusta in an import garage in Florida. According to them there were only ever three of them. Wasn't a different model though, just a factory option.
I haven't seen anything notably rare just out and about on the street.
>>17139029
>>17138963

i remember watching one sell at auction for like $400k about 10 years ago
I think it was about two years ago but I did get to see a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse like pic related at the Gold Coast dealership in Chicago.
Saw a Tesla Model 3 getting off the freeway a couple weeks ago. Won't be rare for long.
How about this? 20 made, as far as I can tell.
>>17138650
>Automatics are a big no-no for rotaries
Is it because a human can control the gears better than the computer can when it comes to optimal RPM for fuel efficiency? Or because a human can redline whenever he wants and an auto tries to avoid that whenever possible?
>>17138387
Enzo in traffic once, A F40 at a car show.

Rat rods. Since I don't live in a metro shithole, every one I see is the only one ever made.
>>17139545
Rotaries have to redline regularly to burn off carbon deposits. Excess carbon deposits will unseat apex seals.
The autos can't rev as high as the manuals, and in addition to that I believe they may have lacked the same amount of oil injectors as the manuals.

>>17139654
Ah, as I thought. I ask because I'm an American dumb enough to buy a rotary engine car, but the only RX-7s that aren't beat to shit in my area seem to be automatics, so I was thinking of getting one and then eventually doing a swap to a manual transmission.
>I believe they may have lacked the same amount of oil injectors as the manuals
A quick google of the parts needed for a conversion seems to indicate this isn't the case, as oil injectors don't come up in the list.
>>17139559
Most auto gearboxes have a position on the shifter that tells it to hold a gear, they don't even have that?
>>17138650

>and even fuel economy

I saw a Maserati Merak SS on the road instead of just at a car show.
Ferrari f40 gte, only 7 made. runner up would probably be the aston martin vulcan
I don't no about rarest but definitely most expensive is the Bugatti veyron.
I live in the Midwest so I don't see exotics too often
It's "just" a Boxster, but it's a special edition which they only made 7 of.

A turn of the century Rolls replica, known to locals as "Cruella De Ville's car". Seen it a few times going at fucking ballistic speed, never seen it parked. Nobody seems to know who the driver is.
A (probably replica) BMW Alpine, complete with a racing number. Seen it going the opposite way once while sitting in traffic.

I think your on the wrong board buddy
I've seen a Tucker 48 driving around.
I know there is at least one other person here who would know what this is.

>>17149372

Unmolested Honda Civic SiR
>>17138387
Model T on the highway, old dude in it chugging along, was awesome. You could tell he spent tons of time caring for it
>>17164681
he knows what he got.
This guy, probably.
Not crazy rare, but still neat. Looked really clean too.
>>17138387
Ford GT

>>17138448
Did you take this photo? Good shot if so anon.
>>17166098
I did, thanks. I used to do it professionally and really miss it, sadly there's almost no paying work anymore and way too many people fighting over the few jobs available.
>>17138449
I've driven two different 850csi, also the last M1 that came off the production line. The dealership where I worked was owned by a very wealthy collector. He owned the 3.0 CSL that Hans Stuck was driving in pic related. I got to sit in it a few times.
e31 5.7 alpina
>>17138387
They might not be rare in Russia, where I live, I only ever see old Ladas.
I passed this THING the other day.
I didn't know they were still in business.
>>17164689
looks like the monaco blue, which was sprayed on less than 40 models in '01
pretty rare indeed
this is the rarest I've seen ever
>>17163239
Looks like some kind of McLaren F1 Longtail kit car.
Once saw a non-riced Civic. Pretty neat.
>>17167014
Is that a kit car? You realise kit cars are worthless right
>>17167007
Neat
>>17163834
That's not a maloo
>>17167183
absolutely no idea but it looked authentic
was in 2012 so I don't remember
Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss at Highlands in New Zealand. They've got 3 out of the 75 that were made.

FVARRRRRRRRRRK
>>17167228
my bad, that IS a maloo
pic is just a regular commodore ute but still
>>17153549
That car was rear-wheel drive unlike the Scirocco, making it the better car even if it's a blatant copy.
>>17167245
thats a maloo too
>>17167165
No
MT900
Someone mentioned it once earlier in the thread.d
Saw a r32 gts-t, in the USA of course
McClaren MP4-12C
Bentley Turbo R (lives about a mile away from me)
i'm not sure which is the most rare.
took this picture in LA, do i need to say more?
>>17138387
My grandparents have a Dodge Dakoda Shelby. Has interior trim and everything. They only made 1475 of them
Not including car show shit.
68 Dodge Charger and a Viper. A few 70's Challengers. An old 70's Porsche. A Lotus Esprit & Elise. And the other day I saw a Maserati.
Rarest I've seen on the road, not including car shows etc
Edmonton and calgary have a (sort of )surprising amount of nice cars
>>17138387
Aston Martin one 77 but it was at a dealer. Also a Zonda roadster but also at a dealer. I had an Enzo drive with me for a bit and he saw me taking a video so he did a drive by on me. That's probably the coolest.
>>17138387
A few come to me but the most memorable has to be the RS200 and T16
>>17168451
shit I should probably mention that this was on the road
>>17168527
Was it yellow with brown interior and in California? There was a guy out there that drove one all the time.
>>17153205
No. Just where I am because I live in Wisconsin and everything rusts here.
They pretty rust prone from what I hear too.
>>17168557
Nope. Exterior was white, I think the interior was black. SE-Michigan, so I saw it for the week of the Dream Cruise (it didn't have plates). I'm fairly certain he lived in my neighborhood but never found out where he lived.
i have seen a BMW M1 driving around on public roads in Narragansett RI
>>17138387
1936 REO Speedwagon at a car show.
Rarest car I saw "in the wild" (not at a show or meet) was some random lambo at a gas station in Cali.
>>17138465
that's cool as shit. i've seen model t's but never a paddy wagon.
Not exactly rare but some old dude came in to my shop in a 4-door e36 M3 the other day. Never seen one before because I live in the sticks
This Stalin's parade-ZIS was once in nearby carmuseum, i'm guessing it is pretty rare.
>>17167465
Franklin let's go bowling
Saw this at a tiny car show at my tiny town bank. Started telling my girlfriend it was a replica until I saw the build plate. It had sold for $800,00 a few months before.
I saw a fucking SLR on the STREET not at a show. There are only a few SLRs in my entire state of WA.
>>17143078
"Ticket-me Tangerine"
Google Streetview time.
Lamborghi Espada and Lancia Scorpion in the same shot
1967 Shelby GT500
I vowed from that day to purchase a replica.
Probably a Rolls Royce phantom and I lived in nyc for 10 years.
>>17143078
There's one around me too, never realized they were rare, but I guess I don't see too many orange GTIs now that you mention it.
>>17143287
It's being stolen at this very moment.
>>17143078
It's because of dealer allocations. The local VW dealer probably got one for some reason, and I'll bet the dude got a good deal after it sat for a few months because nobody wanted to pay extra for a special color.
I know a guy who got a steal on a Lime Rock edition E92 M3 for similar reasons.
>>17138387
live in south florida so I've seen a koenigsiggggg, a pagani, laferrari or 2, plently of 488s already, lambo venneo(?), bugattis
In person outside of museums, I saw a Lotus Esprit V8. It was parked next to a Murcielago, Gallardo, Aventador, and Huracan
>>17138796
I see like ten of those on the freeway everyday
>>17143155
Underrated
my dads panel truck, It was converted into a school bus
In the wild: Cord 812 Supercharged, looked just like pic related.
Ever: Probably something at LeMay's. I didn't get to really take in everything I saw there since I went in like 90 minutes before they closed.
Doug Demuro lives in my area. I've seen him drive his GTR & his Viper.
Neither are "rare" but they are extremely specific cars. Even came across his GTR on craigslist and used the opportunity to just say hi- He responded and said thanks for watching his vids,
1990 Consulier GTP-LX. This was in High River and it is the only own known to be in Canada.
>>17167465
Is that right outside of bijan's?
It is probably Bijan's Son's car then, but could easily be a customer's car
>>17156031
Neighbor has one.
Once saw fiero without bodykit
