Hey b/o/ys, I was wondering what the consensus on here was on which manufacturer makes the best manual transmissions.

Mazda probably makes the best feeling changes of the volume brands. Can't really say for more upmarket marques.
Getrag
Aisin close second
Peugeot gets a mention for worst trannys ever

We should have used it yesterday in Berlin...
My favorite manuals I've ever driven were from NA miatas. So tight, so slammable. giggity
My least favorite are BMW E30s the throw is quite a bit longer than what I expect from a "performance" car, and there is SO much play in the shifter that it feels like the stick is in neutral all the time

Any car with a Getrag shifter generally has great shifter feel.
Aside from Getrag and Tremec, I'd say Honda does a great job with their manuals. To my knowledge, Honda's manuals are in-house designed and not supplied by an outside company like usual. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Honda and Mazda are the tops.
I've had a couple getrags that are meh. Compared to a Miata or Honda type R they're meh.
