As it gets a bit dirty it becomes fairly low key, unless you keep your bike absolutely immaculate. I think it can work on your bike.

>+1t front

I think the acceleration will remain mostly okay, but given the not-so-torqey ways of the old Hondas it might become very annoying at low revs. My F3 doesn't like to accelerate much at 5k revs @ 6th gears even with +2T in the rear. Would only do it if you spend absolutely all your time on highways. The default gearing is fairly long anon.

>Would it help noticeably?

With the lack of torque, not really. If you're cruising and you want some action, you'll still need to downshift 3 gears. It'll give you some more oomph at high revs.

If you want the bike to be more responsive, you might have to keep it at higher revs or learn to live with the beast as it is general.

Quirks aside, the old CBR600Fs are fairly great though anon.

In my region salaries range from $65,000-95,000. Overtime is unlimited in many departments as there is always a need for more staffing. It's not uncommon although it is suicidal and not sustainable for mental and physical well being to double a couple of your monthly paychecks a few times a year in OT. Great job for travel and in my case soon to be motorcycle travel once the bike is built and set up.

Somewhat agree. Just have to ease into it. I grew up with liter bikes in the home. Brothers and father have always owned Ducati, and we had one of each generation going back to the original 900ss 1980 model. First bike I rode was a 916sps. Years later I had my first crash on a shitty beat up monster 750 I got off craigslist, low sided while fucking around doing stoppies in traffic and ditched the bike when a car in front slammed on their brakes. My fault, I was careless and young.

If you aren't in first gear, downshift. Low gearing may suit your use case if in town. I prefer stock or slightly taller for better top gear cruising.

I suggest only changing your gearing on a street bike during normal maintenance replacement of chain and sprocket sets. Less work overall that way.

One tooth up front is roughly three on the rear. You can also use a ratio calculator.

>>17125526
Buy used, learn to work on everything you fucking own and you can afford multiple vehicles and the tools and equipment to maintain them while paying your house off early.

Self and many of my bros and countless other folks do this as normal.

I own an R6 and my room mate has a Ninja 300.

They are not in any way comparable in terms of power and acceleration anywhere in the rev range.

Even keeping it below 7-8000 rpm I stomp all over his bike from a standstill and from a roll.

My bike doesnt really stat making power until 9000-10,000rpm.

That said, I started on an F4i.
600's are fine for starter bikes, if not ideal, as long as you're not an idiot.

I went +4 in the rear from stock, which along with the smaller wheel/tire had a compounding effect.

sure someone can get a supersport as their first bike and not crash. The bigger issue is 600s aren't as conductive to learning good riding habits as something more forgiving.

>>17128023
Contrary to popular belief, big bikes can also go slow.

I didn't start on a big bike but every time I go on a group ride and there's some 300 rider spouting this kind of bullshit and thinking they're on a moto2 bike, when we hit the road we're always pulling over and waiting for them and really holding back so they don't get too far behind.

Shit sucks and it's one of the reasons I don't ride with one of my friends anymore, his bike is just too slow.

If a rider wants to properly learn, it will be easier due to better components and rider aids.

But yeah if they just want to squid around it doesn't matter what they're on, they're not interested in learning and thus won't learn.

I think you are very likely wrong, and that geometry and weight are probably more important, at least at some early stages of rider development. Not once have I thought "gosh, I could be so much better if only I had six-piston calipers instead of four-" or "gosh, I wish I had better traction control software", but I've sure wished for a shorter wheelbase and a lighter bike. With a stunt cage.

My bike I have listed on Craigslist is getting responses like "What is the condition? Any more pictures? How long have you owned it?", Despite there being the max number of pictures for Craigslist, and I explicitly state things like how long I've owned it / how many miles I put on it. >relying on rider aids will make you a better rider
t. BMW salesman

The point of a slow bike is it is slow, so you can learn to ride it hard without going warp 10 where bad shit happens fast. When you're new it's going to take you longer to read and react to things so you want things happening slower, and when you're new you're more likely to make mistakes so you want the consequences to be lower. Missing a braking point or turn in point or twisting the throttle too fast is a lot less likely to get you fucked at 250 speeds and response than on a superbike. Once you've learned the technique and not put yourself in the hospital or morgue in the process it's a matter of it becoming practiced enough that you can scale it up to faster speeds.

Riding a fast bike slowly is just practicing how to ride slow.

Your argument is the skill of a rider is measured by dick waving on mixed group rides, why the fuck do you think anyone should care what you think? Just go buy your S1000RR and tell yourself having the fastest bike makes you the fastest rider but don't make us listen to your bullshit.
>>
>>17128370
You apparently have to ride in the other road races that are just as dangerous but 1% as glamorous or relevant.
>>
>>17128293
>so you can learn to ride it hard without going warp 10 where bad shit happens fast
fucking. this. when you're thrashing the dogshit out of an EX250 you're limited to around 45-50mph MAX if you want to feel like you have any drive at all out of the corners. tighter corners are even better, so you can learn to pound up and down the gears like joe racer, downshifting under braking, etc., without actually having to go dangerously fast like joe racer does on the track. you learn so much more about entry speeds and carrying speed through corners when you don't have a capable engine letting you be sloppy and covering up for your poor technique. and once you finally get onto a 600/1000 you'll have a leg up on guys who have been riding for comparably long but started on their big boy bikes.
>>
>>17128370
Show up, pay money, go fast enough in qualifying, race

Probably some prerequisites to fill first like previous racing experience or something.

So /dbt/ I found out I'm not going to be going into the Navy for another 6 months and already sold my toegay spec shitbox. I'm in Cuckifornia and 20 years old (21 in 5 months). Good idea to get some 250cc or less bike and fuck around with my learner's permit until I actually leave? I have been driving for 6 years and have a flawless record (on paper). How bad can I expect to pay on insurance. Would getting some 250cc enduro/dual sport be cheaper on insurance than say a Ninja?
>>
>>17128455
I have an sv650 if you want to buy it

otherwise a 250cc dualie/sumo would probably be your best bet. sportbikes cost more on insurance, though low displacement gives you discounts. however, the SM/dual will generally cost more money, especially with riding season coming up

They're slow as shit unless you are sitting right on peak power everywhere. Go ride one of the modern thous for half an hour and then jump on an R6. You'll be wringing its neck beating your head against the petrol tank.

A beginner is only going to have trouble with one because of the ergonomics.

My retard friend says Motorcycles have a tendency to break down a lot. Is that true?

How often do you have to repair a Motorcycle?

P.S. Could you hitch a trailer to the end of a Motorcycle and carry a weight?
>>
>>17129660
Depends entirely on the bike. Japanese brands are significantly more reliable (Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki) than brands like Harley Davidson, Ducati, or KTM.
It's not rare to see a Japanese bike with well over 100,000 miles on the clock with very little having been done in the way of maintenance, just regular oil changes (same intervals as a car, about 3k miles) and an occasional valve adjustment
>>
>>17129758
And what about a trailer with weight?

Yep, usually I only see cruisers doing it but I'm sure a standard or sport bike could do it if you had a hitch and everything
