Why can't there just be like a collaborative gen 1 print run or something? Someone mentioned that /osg/ slaps have become quantity over quality and I can't help but agree. I was digging a lot of the original designs from the first few months and it feels like it's really gone downhill ever since save for a few cool designs.

They actually took hours to design for each one. You don't go into something with an idea all the time, you just play with different ideas until you find something interesting, then you go searching for fonts to use, track down the owner of the font and wait for the license, then you get down to getting feedback from people on various iterations, then you decide on colours, and then you decide on laminates, and finishes, then you decide on border widths, then you create different sizes, print them off and see which look the best, then you compare them to other people's slaps and see how they stack up.

This doesn't take five fucking minutes you absolutely dumb ass, this takes hours, and hours, and hours.

If you think it takes 5 minutes why don't you open up a shop and take on all the responsibility that comes with it? There's more than just designing a sticker, you have to place orders, make sure people are on their shit and finish on time, interact with each buyer, let people know when things are shipping or coming in, and devote hours of your time to website development as well.

You also ace to learn about payment processing, and do the math for each payment manually, you need to input each order into a spreadsheet for tax time, you need to keep track of all expenses, taxes for receipts, how much you spent on stamps, and a running total of your inventory at any given time.

I highly doubt that. Designers have to get approval from their clients throughout the design process. It's a long process even if you end up with a minimal design.
Plus logos are custom made. They rarely take a font and just use that.

I only use open source and self-made fonts little one. I also get permission from the artists to use their work in my designs instead of using the first free backgrounds that pop up when searching "japan background" on Google and putting a stolen font on them hoping no one notices.

This is pretty much true. I worked at a design firm for my summer interneship. Theg made us make a ton of fucking fonts. After a couple of weeks they picked out the best 5 fonts and then we pretty much fixed those ones up and they sold it to some company for and undisclosed amount of dosh.

That being said my interneship was for buisness managment and I had very little experience with font works. If I could figure it out, then most people could.
