I'm doing a saddle sore 1000 between Dallas and az

That was the plan but couldn't.
Stretches of the 101 and 1 had been closed because of the land slides from record rain in many areas

If the weather and conditions are good you should totally do it

because to go from one uncle's house in dallas and my other uncle's house in arizona is 998 miles, and I might as well do it while I am young and can withstand the discomfort of 1000 miles on a motorcycle in a day.

and I plan on cruising at about 90mph, with stops every hour and a half to two hours for gas and to stretch and to eat. I am getting a water bladder to route up to the helmet, as well as a seat bead thing and a really aerodynamic and good helmet (can't decide between shoei and arai

there is no "standard" anymore, what used to be standard is now retro and every new unfaired bike is a naked.

even the Bandit is a sport-tourer/naked so the SV surely is.

It makes sense if you go by tires/suspension/brakes.

Smaller tube at the bottom = less unsprung weight.
>>
>>17116786
The less unsprung weight there is for the suspension to absorb and react to before the chassis, the more effective, precise and responsive it can be. The rising mass of the wheel and suspension needs to be absorbed before it transfers to the chassis, and THEN deal with the chassis.

Would you rather catch a bucket of water, or a bucket, etc poorly comparative analogy etc.

USD, just got it yesterday I don't have any pics yet and it's not quite dawn yet on the east coast. The 2017 comes standard with a slipper clutch that Yamaha sells for about 250$. That's the first big mod I'll probably do, can't beat an OEM slipper for 250$. The dealership had these stupid dualsport knobbies on it so I had them swap for a new set of street tires, guess they thought it was an adv bike.

I think the main reason most justify it is the wall thickness of the stanchion vs the female part. When in the non-inverted config the fulcrum point is higher at the thinner stanchion when inverted the fulcrum is at the much thicker and stronger shock body. They are in NO way necessary and on some bikes like ADVs might be a detriment as if the seal goes you will get fork oil all over your break components and gravity will force it out faster.

But they do look great, and there's a perception that anything without them is outdated shit.
>>
>>17116830
Harley guys judge engines by sound and not much else.

A properly balanced water-cooled DOHC engine that doesnt rattle and vibrate the bike to pieces just isnt the same i guess.

What do people mean when they say a litre bike is 'too much'?

I really want to buy an XJR1300, felt perfect for me, looks really damn cool.

If the bike has the power then great, but if I don't need to use it I won't. I would have thought that having a litre bike just means it can ride around easily and carry a passenger no problem all day.

well, first of all the castle nut holding the spindle was corroded and tough as fuck to move
didn't want to use my impact gun because I couldn't find the right size socket, so that took a spanner, a hammer and elbow grease to undo
then the same shit for the rod that holds the brake drum in place, but I managed to find a socket that fit so thank god
then faffing around with those snail things on the notches, getting it as straight as I could then trying to tighten the nut with only one spanner
then realising I hadn't adjusted the brakes to compensate for the extra distance

Probably. I'm not into cruisers and bikes like that, I was genuinely wondering what bike what that.

You can thank the EU for that, untill recently there was no limit on what hp you could restrict.

South of Cologne AFAIK, isn't that like around the corner? From Geography classes I just remember a ton of cities being clustered in that area that were impossible to learn so I can't judge how far apart everything is.

SEM will be near the Switzerland/Austria/Italy triangle. http://www.camping-pfunds.at/
Last weekend of July / start of August.

thats... pretty far away.

>Pfunds, Austria

If anyone's coming from the South on an even vaguely sporty bike, you absolutely must take the SS40. It's an absolutely beautiful road that I took 2 years ago after crossing Stelvio, huge sweeping bends climbing up a gentle gradient with smooth, sticky tarmac and not a speed camera in sight.

Around 800 km from Berlin, not a problem. Won't even look at the Autobahn or toll roads either. Sleep once on the way there, 3 times during the SEM, once on the way back. EZPZ

If you fight the unelected commie bureaucrats then you're going to find you have little support when you try to get a good deal for your electorate so you'll probably be destroyed at the next MEP election.

You either do what the majority do and keep your head down while the politburo expands its tentacles or go full Farage and end up being sent back to the European Parliament for the sheer entertainment factor.
