It isn't. Almost every single F150 owner that comes in talks about how they love the ecoboost and how quick they are.

>t. Service Advisor at a Ford dealer
>>
>>17118080
Oh my fucking God, this sounds like absolute crap. I mean, I don't have high hopes for V6s in the first place and it still managed to completely disgust me.
>>
>>17118140
nice try ford shill. Many people, myself included, dislike how ford is downsizing to turbo'd v6s all in the name of "fuel economy" when in reality it's just marketing. It seems that the ford engineers have been fucked over by the marketing department (e.g. calling it """ecoboost""" instead of TTV6). What's worse is they're sticking their meme engine into vehicles that shouldn't have a V6.
For fucks sake they've neutered their top end performance vehicles by putting the ecoboost in the GT and Raptor. The day they stick it in a Mustang and discontinue the V8 is the day that ford really does become a soulless company like Toyota.
>>
>>17118312
The ecoboosts literally have more hp and torque than the 5.0L

You can cry out "shill" like a fucking idiot all you want, I just happened upon the job by being at a car show.

>MUH V8
You and the other fucking retards need to get over it.
>>
>>17118312
This muh dude
It's a pain to see ford shoot themyself in the foot like this I believe the only reason they are doing this is because they spenter God knows how much designing that motor and want it to surpass the popularity of the 5.0
I mean the engine is good but it has its place not in a fucking supercar or a fucking top of the line off road truck, the last thing I want when I'm getting unstuck in a wash in the middle of the summer is 2 more sources of heat
I really wish ford would have slapped those turbos on the 5.0 and started shoe horning that engine into everything they could still say it's "economical" instead of pussifiying there company in the name of muh mpgs

The ecoshit is thirstier than the Coyote and is naturally less reliable due to having more components and higher strain on the engine.
Typically a NA V6 will make less power than a NA V8 while the same NA V8 will make less power than a FI V6 while a FI V8 BTFOs everything.
There is simply no replacement for displacement. Forced induction can only act as a compliment.
>>17118373
Weren't they supposed to have a TT Coyote (5.0 "ecoboost") soon? Nevertheless I'd much rather have a supercharged V8 in muh performance truck becuase of the low rpm gains and the whine.

It's hard to get over my favourite brand shooting themselves in the foot. Fuck even GM can make their V8s efficient (and they're goddam pushrods lmao) without having to go to a TTV6. What worse is that many people find they have worse real world economy with the ecoboost than the epa ratings let on. ecoboost is a shitty marketing meme.

You're a real dullard aren't you? The infograph shows the 3.5 ecoshit WITH the 10 speed having marginally better (i.e. one(1) more mpg) economy than a 5.3 EcoTec3 with a 6 speed. Mind you that's EPA ratings so anything goes. Imagine just how good the 5.3 V8 would be with a 10 speed.

Many people, yourself included, are parroting idiots. You're a victim of GM's marketing, which tells you that the advances Ford is making are somehow inferior.

Bread on hood of an Ecoboost or your opinion is, literally, unsubstantiated trash. Owner reports, you know, from the people that have driven and owned them, are far superior to your garbage guesses and memeing.

>b- but they're just ford shills!
Owners are statistically the most critical of their vehicles' faults, this goes for any make or model. And by vehicles' faults, I mean actual faults, not "FCA IS TRASH, FOUND ON ROAD DEAD" and other useless quips.

Sure it has less torque, but surely by this point Ford should have made the 'normal' Ecoboost, a modern marvel in terms of design and engineering, beat a 2V, NA, cast iron motor, right?

Horsepower is also important when towing. Look at the 5L Cummins in the Nissan XD. It's slow AF towing because although it has a shit ton of torque, its got pretty low horsepower.

>>17115587

I'm surprised it took this long. In the commercial diesel application it has been a settled debate for decades. 6 cylinder, forced induction, diesels dominate the medium to heavy duty truck market.
>>
>>17121082
it was never even a debate in the heavy duty diesel world. but comparing a 15 liter inline 6 to a 3.5 liter V6 isn't much of a comparison.
>>
>>17121082

Yeah 14 liter 2000lb+ diesels... Not tiny ass alloy block car engines boosted to within inches of their lives. Trucks are supposed to be simple and reliable work tools and a high strung twin turbo is the opposite of that.

The 6 cylinder Cummins 5.9 saw way more serious use than its bigger V8 counter parts in medium duty truck market. It used to be that the medium duty Fords used to come with Cummins engines. I don't know if that is still the case.

how much would a twin turbo setup for a Coyote weigh? seems like the weight would be negligible. i thought ecoboost weighed at least 100 lbs lighter.
>>
>>17121311
>ecoboost isn't lighter
except it is?
>this was the best engine chose
yep, because it makes more torque and is lighter. and far more compact.
>>
>>17121311
that's the first generation Ecoboost engine with an aluminum block. the second gen 3.5L uses the compacted graphite iron block (same as the 6.7L Powerstroke and 2.7L EB) and is supposedly a completely redesigned engine that shares nothing with the first generation. either way, the one the GT uses is completely exclusive to that car. but yes, turbochargers and the extra moving parts necessary for direct injection add weight. shocking, I know.
