The Camaro sounds better (no fake noise), has more grip, and costs less. The BMW has much better visibility, more torque, more trunk space, and looks a bit nicer.
Which is the better choice for a balanced sports car?

To me, the M240 sounds better, actually.
Also it's easier to tune and make more power out of the bimmer.
m240i because dat tuneability
As a huge camaro fan, get the bimmer. Even if a v6 1le is a great track car you will get tired of people asking if its the v8. With the bimmer, you'll just be accepted for what it is. Just think, would you rather tell people you drive a v6 camaro and have to explain that it actually is a good car? Or just say "I drive a bmw".

BMW might age better, but is also more expensive to maintain I would imagine.
I'd say it comes down more to your personality. The Camaro is more the bad boy/ renegade/ dumbass vibe and the BMW is more mature/ yuppy/ snob vibe.

Only the m5/6 and the i models have fake noise
The BMW is a better car, but I don't think it's 15k better, which is roughly the price difference you'll be paying for an equal amount of features.

SS 1LE > M240 > V6 1LE

M240i doesn't have an LSD as standard
>>17112938
Neither. E46 m3 or c5 z06.
Buy a used 2015/2016 one, they're like 10k off

How is the new B58 engine?
>>17113275
Quiet as fuck compared to N54/N55 but it's bretty gud. Can stay warm up to 36 hours so less cold start wear. Shame the chain drive is at the back of the engine, tho.
Can get a new camaro 1le for $5k-$6k off MSRP which would be around $33k. A new M240i will cost you near $50k.
Camaro is a better performance vehicle as its nearly as fast as a M2 which is a step above the M240i. Also pretty sure the M240i doesn't come with a LSD as even the 340i comes with a open diff.
