Not gonna say it's a terrible car but come on man. At least get an R/T. These cars are not fast enough to back up the look with just the v6. You won't get that low rumble that gets nods of respect from every male in a 500 mile radius. You will get tired of people asking if it's a v8 and being disappointed when you tell them it isn't. My friend just got a v6 charger and he regrets not getting the R/T. If you can't afford a new R/T, get a used one. You will get more respect with a used R/T than with a new v6.

>>
>>17108399
Is the R/T still enough to have fun with? I heard it has the same 0-60 as a fucking GTI haha
>>
>>17108788
Yeah the R/T is fun. 375 hp 410 lb-ft torque. You get the rumble and the sound and no one will call you a fag because at least you have a v8. 0-60 should be in low-mid 5's. Not super fast but faster than most cars on the road. R/T's are more about the image and having just enough power to back it up. The challenger/charger need the 6.4 to really compete with the camaro/mustang though performance wise. I'd say if you're not racing your car all the time an R/T is plenty for having fun and cruising around.
>>
>>17107166
Go for it bro. I get compliments all the time in mine. I'd rather have some middle aged dude talk to me about my car rather than some fuckboi mustang queer. Camaro are okay tho.
>>
>>17107386
Thats the challenger with the 3.5 L V6 and 4-speed auto....which they only sold from 2009-2010.
0-60 in 7.5 seconds

The 2011-2014 got updated to the 5 speed auto and 3.6 L V6 with 305 hp/268 lbft. 0-60 in 6.2 seconds.

The 2015 got updated to the ZF 8 speed auto with the same 3.6 L V6
0-60 in 6 seconds

So besides being faster than a 9 year old car, it's slower against every relatively new V6 challenger.

I had a brand new one as a rental a couple of times

The 8 speed auto and the cruise logic was a bit on the retarded side, it handled like ass, it wasn't particularly good on fuel, traction was worse than most of the ancient RWD things I normally mess with (240z, 240sx, etc), the A/C felt a little lack luster in Ohio summers, and side and rear view visibility was kind of shit.

All in all, I don't really recommend it.

I guess I'll ask here

Whats the difference between a v6 engine that has lets say 400hp vs a v8 that has 400hp?

I dont know much about cars...
>>
>>17109386
nothing really the V8 will probably sound better and will be smoother but besides that it won't matter
>>
>>17109386
Generally speaking the v6 has two sharp peaks in the power department. The v6 will rev higher, but the v8 has flatter curves and sounds better. That's the extremely watered down version.
>>
>>17109386
A 400 horsepower V6 will use forced induction. Different feel than a N/A V8.
>>
>>17109386
v6 will only have good power at certain rpms like this anon said
>>17109409

also, the v8 will have more potential for power. if you stick a supercharger on both with the same boost, the v8 will make more power. the v6 is already being pushed to it's limit like this anon said
>>17109414
>>
>>17109384
How will I know though? I wanted to try it with her because I'd already heard she does it so wouldn't feel weird about asking.
>>
>>17109312
Hellcat get stomped by ZL1 and GT350 anywhere that matters. It's like Ferd and Chebby finally had a revelation and gave their cars the abilities to turn and be competitive on the world stage, while Dodge doubled down on DUDE DRAG LMAO because that's all it could really aspire to do.
>>
>>17109504
Kind of works out in their favor though. No other cars are strictly muscle cars like that. Hellcat has 6.4L for christ' sake.

R/T is good enough, just for fucks sake don't get the v6. R/T isn't great but it makes the right sound for a muscle car and it's relatively quick. Yes it's enough to have plenty of fun with. If you get a Challenger I swear the first thing people will say to you after "hey I like your car..." is "is that a v-8?" or "that thing got a HEMI?!?!" If you don't at the very least get a base model R/T you'll regret ever getting a Challenger

Hey OP

15' challenger SRT 392 owner here. Listen to the other anons when they tell you to buy an R/T 5.7 L V8 over the SXT V6.

i've driven every model variation of the challenger and can tell you that you won't be disappointed with the V6 but the 5.7 L V8 is so much more superior. It sounds cooler, is faster, and is more reliable as the 5.7 L "eagle" V8 has been in production since 2003 vs. 2011 for the 3.6 L pentastar V6.

Buying the V6 makes sense for someone who wants a comfortable and cool looking GT car as their DD but since you're on /o/ and seem to be looking for performance, get the V8. If you can't afford a brand new one, get a used one.

Really depends on where you live. It'd be an extra 70 cents per month (srsly) for me to insure an R/T vs an SXT. A Hellcat would be an extra $1.50, which I don't get.

Cars like that are often used as showpieces so the risk of them is considered much lower

41k for mine. I was trying to get very few options but after they told me about the new Dynamic package for the 2017 model I had to have it, imo it was a no brainer. It's bigger brakes, the same 6 piston brembos as the hellcat. Also the same forged aluminum wheels as the hellcat but the center says Dodge instead of SRT. The rear wheels are now the same width as the SRTs and not those thin things that come on a normal challenger, and it came w better pirrelli tires. Cost an extra 2k
