Why where so many cars in the 80's and 90's this color? It's so bad looking.

My MIL has bought 3 new cars in that color in the last decade. She has terrible taste. She keeps saying that she wants to trade her new car in for the same car in whatever the "exciting" color they offer. But ends up keeping the car for several years before buying another one in that same shit champage color.

She's on a new Camry in that color.

Because beige hides imperfections better. Dirt, bird shit, and even corrosion is harder to see on beige than it does on black, white, or any other color. It requires the least amount of maintenance.

Also cops seem to notice it less. Seriously, you can drive a beige '90s Accord doing 90mph in a 75mph and cops will be less likely to see you.
