Tell me about these K24s
power?
torque?
price? worth doing?
>>
>>17091619
All i know is contrary to the belief of people on honda forums, no k swapping an old 6/7thgen civic isn't cheaper than modifications. Fully built k engines with transmission i've only seen go from 800$ to 1600$. While there are custom parts the original owner put in the engine and tranny in my d17a2 the parts i know are well below 1k. What you need to consider with k engines are torque spec, weight, mounts, and aftermarket. Only time its worth it, with hype prices most of them have, is if your engine is shit or ded then pull from a ded car with a k engine or get lucky on eBay and Craigslist. Thats just my experience knowing a lot of people that engine swap.
>>
>>17091675
No didn't think so.
Saying that I have spend £800 on the engine and ECU of a b16a and should hope to get 180hp
Stick another £250 in cams in, you get to over 200hp.
Well shall see tomorrow, my brum brums in then and I should have it back by midday.
>>
>>17091695
K's are disappointing to look at on ebay cause they are way over priced for even bad condition full builds.
My d17a2 only makes in the 130 hp range though thing seems to have stock setup for how lean it burns which it might not need. The stage one cam gives most the power in my car i think.
Wish it had more low end torque.

>>17100097
If you have bad synchros all you have to do is gently hold the shifter into the gear you want and youll feel it slip in when its the right RPM
>>
>>17100190
It's a bit more complicated, pretty much just 1st -> 2nd. I cannot shift into 2nd gear from 1st above around 5500RPM at all unless I double de-clutch.

Sometimes it will also refuse to go into gear at low RPMs with a lovely grind sound before I quickly double de-clutch to get it into gear.

It's probably created from the large gap between the 1st gear and 2nd gear ratio. 1st gear tops out around 40kmph, 2nd gear around 110kmph. And it's been like this since I bought the car from a shite dealership.

>>17098652

>>
>>17100258
It's really as simple as what I'm saying.
You aren't wrong though, the gear ratio is making it difficult if you shift @5500.

If you shift at a lower rpm and do what I was describing, itll slip into gear 95% of the time without grinding.

Blog update:

White CRX runs great now
>>
>>17100962
I don't doubt it, but because of the gearing gap and with my current 23lb flywheel - revs drop so slow that going from 7600rpm in 1st to below 5k in 2nd takes ages.

If I get more money, I might try find a scrapped FN2 TypeR and do a gearbox swap.

Should I buy this auto crv turned camper for $1000 as a first car
>>
>>17103153
It's a cool idea but the center of gravity on that is so much higher than the stock CR-V which is kinda high.
>>
>>17103161
How negative would that be? It's pretty well maintained
>>
>>17103183
It's only a bad thing if you like to swing your shit around like I do, but for normal driving it's just fine, especially if it's been maintained.
>>
>>17103193
So you're saying I should go for a manual sports car to be an enthusiast?
>>

Manual Civics/Accords are great budget driver's cars straight off the bat.

welp I changed spark plugs and found out one cylinder has 30psi less than the rest :/ not quite sure how its running as well as it does...

I just really don't want to swap engines at the peak of summer D:

FFFF I almost killed my second bird today. Was flying down this road because it's empty and it flew by the front of my car and missed it by like an inch. Lucky motherfucker.
>>
Was gifted a car, '03 RSX Type S. Many things wrong with it, been changing whatever needs done. CEL came on, checked obd ii and it says idle air control valve system. From what I can tell, RPMs aren't jumping and it idles at 1k. Forums say it's a common issue with the IACV and it just needs a cleaning. Car has 85k miles.

Also caught this nice view of the I-10 Twinspan from another apartment complex on delivery. Went to this place four times in a row today but it's almost always worth it. They're not dicks like the ones at my place.
>>
>>17103993

Car had ebay coilovers in the front with civic springs and blown struts. Found a complete set of stock front and back struts dated 2016 for $225 and changed them out. New tie rods, alignment, oil change and filter, had to make another key because it only came with one. Replaced the knock sensor, had to solder on a new connector for it. It has a cold air, but I think I might just replace it with a short ram because the weather here is cold for 7 months out of the year with snow and rain. 4th synchro is bad so you have to granny shift from 3rd into neutral, hold it for a second, then bring it down into 4th for minimal grind.
>>
>>17104047

Oh, and also replaced the transmission fluid with amsoil synchromesh because 3rd kept popping out of gear. Now it locks into place with no pop.
>>
>>17104047
Sounds like it should be pretty good soon. I just did my trans fluid yesterday but it's only a year old unit from Synchrotech.
>>
>>17104086

I'm hoping so. The trans fluid was pretty easy, but the fill bolt was a bit of a bitch to break free.
>>
>>17104144
if you ever for some reason get fucked over and cant use the fill bolt, you can fill it through the VSS
>>
>>17104144
I had a lot of trouble with my drain bolt. Also learned that I put too much in when I first installed the transmission. It's all good now, though.

>>17104152
That's what I did. Though I did open up the fill bolt so I could see when to stop filling it up. I didn't do that the first time around so I over filled it.

Man that's cheap as hell. You really are the master of deals. kek

I did get a funnel with a bendable tube I could have stuck in it but my speed sensor isn't even bolted it, just jammed in there. Much easier access point for filling it.

Fixed the issue, took it apart, sprayed some brake cleaner in the throttle body and the connectors and let it dry. Engine light went off and car seems to idle normally. Air filter was fucked though.

FML, I'm stranded at a gas station at 4:35 in the morning. My Integra started misfiring on the interstate while driving home with a blinking CEL, making absolutely no powerr. Now it won't start, it pretty much dies instantly and if I open the throttle a little bit I hear a loud pop from the exhaust

It's a 2000 with a B18B1. Idle is really shitty like it's running on 2 or 3 cylinders. After an hour of sitting there I somehow managed get it to start up and run without dying, and about 30 seconds after getting on the interstate it started to misfire with a flashing CEL which went solid. Gonna pull the code after I rest, right now I'm just glad I managed to limp it home

My gear lever has about an inch of play in my Integra, I've watched a few videos and guess it's probably the bushings and it's a relatively simple replacement. Question is, what's a normal amount of play? I prefer absolutely none, but I'm not sure I didn't just have total honeymoon mode rose glases on when I first got it and failed to notice the existing, normal amount of play. Will a new set of bushings on my shifter give me the "on rails" feel? Will it last more than a week? Am I just a lousy shifter?

Good point. It runs much better than my last Civic's engine so I'm not gonna mess with it. I'll be ordering new wires, NGK plugs (G or V power?), and an O2 sensor finally.

>>17111265
It's usually gonna be the U joint. Mine is pretty bad, too. Another contributing factor is the seat the ball of your shifter sits in. It's plastic and rubber so it can fall apart like it did in mine.
>>
>>17111282
Have you been running it without an o2?

>>17111265
depending on how anal you want to get there is a way to eliminate all slop entirely

Probably not the same Integra, but it's all generally the same.

https://www.acurapartsnow.com/auto-parts/1996/acura/integra-hatchback/gs-r-trim/5-speed-manual-engine/chassis-cat/shift-lever-scat

Parts 8 and 11 stiffen things up quite a bit for me, but won't get rid of the left to right slop. Parts 18 and 15 can replaced with poly bushings from Energy Suspension or Prothane for real cheap.

>>17111291
Since I got it two years ago. kek

The header it came with had no bungs. The EK header I'm using now only has one bung by the bottom of the engine. Not sure if the sensor wire will be long enough to reach without an extension. I think stock EG headers had the bung closer to the head.

Can I trust a 1993 automatic Integra? What's a good price for one?
Reliable?

I need a first car. Really love you guys
>>
>>17113005
I think you can. My 93 auto Civic served me well and it's still running today as my buddy's daily driver while he restores his other Civic.

Okay listen up everyone I have a dilemma, I need to get a new car.

I've come down to a choice between spending my budget of £5000 on a civic type r fn2. (part 1)

>>
>>17113090
Or basically emptying my bank account on a really sweet Integra Type R DC5.

So, should I do the economically sensible thing, or blow it and go for the Integra?
£10,000

Is it worth it for the Integra or not? (part 2)
>>
>>17113104
Get a DC2
>>
>>17113090
>>17113104
both looks nice i would go with the civic tho, 5k difference is alot. if it was the same price id get teh teg tho
>>
>>17113155
No DC2 for less than £10k
Also rust is not your friend.
>>
>>17113209
Yeah but will the Integra appreciate in value over the years?

The fn2 is the dog of civic type r's.

But Integra is classic, but money.

I've been doing some research on headers for my first gen Honda Fit. Dyno charts apparently say the WeaponR race headers add 11 HP.

Do headers really give huge gains like that? Or would that be accompanied by full exhaust and new intake?
>>
>>17114611
I'll bet it did add 11hp, stock exhausts are pretty restrictive with that back pressure.
>>
>>17114611
It's possible. You can get even more with intake, full exhaust and tune
