I'm going to live in upstate NY for 4 months and to travel across the US. Looking for reliable AWD below 3000$, which will fit 4-5 people and their stuff. Going to sell the car after ~5 months of use. What will you suggest?
Kind of sounds like truck territory, but that would be 4x4 rather than AWD. So I suppose you'd be looking for an SUV or something on the order of an old Subaru wagon if you think you'd be able to pile everything into it.
An old suburban would be nice, gas is a bit cheap now anyways. A wagon with 5 people and their stuff will make the ride kinda dangerous. The suburban will be comfortable, high up for long trips, and much more predictable on the road.

What about Tahoe, Exporer, Durango, Jimmy, Mountaineer?

No, get a Suburban.

I've been on 5-people plus tons of stuff trips in an old Suburban. It did a great job.
And just a plain RWD one. I don't know if OP plans on braving piles of snow.
Suburban. Anything smaller will be quite dangerous.

Don't buy an AWD vehicle.

yeah
what about the tahoe?
im kind of in a similar situation. moving to tx from cali. gonna have to get a big comfy car to roadtrip to family back in cali a couple times a year. (summer, christmas)
i was considering tahoes or simply any crew cab truck.
What mileage is ok for Suburban? Пpивeт из Poccии
