What's wrong with my paint and how do i fix it? Im a complete newbie to paint repair, so far tried t cut, nasty bits seem to scratch off but i think I'm going down into the base coat with that.. help!
Sand it before doing anything, then u have options
>plastidip
>primer
>take it to a shop and let them do above better than you can

rip i'd kill for a memiata
You can plastidip it for a quick fix. It'll protect what's left of the paint, but the finish depends on your prep and skill. You can vinyl wrap it, or you can go full restoration and sand it all down and do a proper paint job.
Maaco usually has $200 paint job specials if you're feeling dangerous.

>vinyl rap
>not making 6 figures
unless op is bill gates idk bout dis

Can confirm not bill gates, ideally i want to avoid a respray, although touching up the panels that need it won't be too bad i guess, I'll shoot off to a different auto store and see what they think, here's a shot of the miatas good side for those who care

Shops usually charge a few hunnit for individual panels, but yeah, it gets expensive.

What if OP was Bill Gates?
Cheap 90s paint wears away from sun and acidity in rain.
It won't rust but looks terrible and can look worse if you don't match the paint.
Macco specials are pretty rough, they do minimal masking and color matching and lasts 2-3 years.
You can try doing it yourself, get a paint stripping attachment for an electric drill and make the area clean, then spray over with pastidip. It will look terrible no matter what I like pastidip because its durable.
Welp autostore said the same, needs respraying, that's gonna be expensive..
lol those panel gaps are ford-tier, you'd expect a japanese manufacturer to have some better panel fitment.
