Bet you fags haven't seen one of these. This my 89' Centurion C350 (factory four door bronco) 4x4 with a 460 Big Block and my woman's/the farm truck is the F250 2wd.
>>
Also, since this picture I've taken off the headlight covers and put new OEM 89 f350 headlights in it's place, tried the blacked out look because old shitty headlights but wanted to just replace em and they look better.

>Small Penis Thread

I bet you faggots don't even use your trucks for work related things, i bet you've never loaded one single thing in the bed or towed anything with your trucks. No no no, i bet you fags just drive them just to look like tough guys because you all are probably weak pansies without one, you fucking posers. There's probably real working people out there that actually needs a good working pickup, but no.... faggots like you guys buy them just to add stupid lift kits and go offroading, completely ruining the truck.

I was semi-joking about the mall crawler part but I've been thinking I'll probably put some 37x12.50s, maybe something like the Cooper STT Pro or BFG KM2 on the shitty 20s I've got now so that I can have a set for dedicated heavy offroad.

so yeah with that in mind I think I'll quite likely just buy the Toyo R/T again for the Forces because they do well enough on light trails and shitty weather and they're super comfy on-road. unless someone can convince me there's something better.

pic related is the exact wheel I got, same size, with a 37x13.50 Toyo M/T. I picked this combo because the child in me wants something big and flashy but I'd also still like something that can be somewhat practical. also 24s are fucking expensive.

posted this up on /org/ but might as well ask here too. So what are the differences between a used 07-14 era tacoma and a used 07-14 era frontier? I am looking at both and the prices on the frontiers routinely beat the shit out of the tacomas. They seem to be basically the same thing. Which is the better small-mid nip truck?
>>
>>17076536
I heard a lot of mixed reviews between the Toyo M/T and the Trail Grappler. I honestly would have thought they'd be more similar considering they're the same company. but it seems like the common trend is that the Nitto is a softer compound, so it bites much better on rocks, but they get washy on heavy trucks and wear faster. but then I've also heard people say they've run both tires in the same size and gotten 50k miles out of each with pretty much identical performance. I'd like to try the Trails some day because I like the way they look. I suppose those are an option for the 20s as well.
>>
>>17076570
prices reflect quality
tacomas last forever, more of them are 4wd, the 4wd system holds up great, the engine is reliable
frontiers shit out constantly and frequently especially if you do the slightest bit offroading
>>
>>17076574
well my truck is a 1 ton with dana front and rear ends so it's certainly h e a v y as shit.
however, got the nittos used with ab half tread for pretty cheap and have since put 10k miles on em and plenty of offroad hours no problems. However, that's not to say that another tire wouldn't do better. Just bought mine based on the jew factor

What the best tire for daily offroading, Nitto trail grapplers or Toyo open country MT? Also will a 2.5 leveling kit do fine to prevent the tires from rubbing?

(pic related is my next truck)
>>
Love this truck, but for the fact GM doesn't make a half ton diesel, it's perfect.

>day I picked it up
>>
>>17076605
fair enough. my truck just being a half-ton I think would be fine on either one but I think it's also about as heavy as a half-ton gets.
>>
>>17076625

>>17076574

that's what I've gathered after spending tons of time researching it. I've had many sets of Toyo A/Ts and now the R/Ts and have always been happy with them. I had one set of Nitto Terra Grapplers and wasn't impressed at all.

bro you need a tire size before you can determine if it'll rub. and as far as those 2 tires go, it's pretty equal, but there's small differences you can look up based on what type of offroading you'll be doing

my dad died a few weeks ago and apparently his old Ranger is still sitting in a shed somewhere. it's a '94 regular cab 4.0L 4wd 5-speed that I think was lifted a little with some 31s on it. he bought it new and blew the rear diff in like 2005. that was right around when I stopped talking to him and I figured he got rid of it because he got a Wrangler but apparently not. I think it only had like 50k on it. I kinda wanna find out if I can buy it.

I was considering one, but I found them to be very.... mediocre? I mean, the Hilux doesn't impress on the performance or the options, but it feels a lot more rugged and less "sluggish" compared to the L200

Indeed, the one I own is nothing special and leaves much to be desired, starting with its 2.5L turbo diesel engine making only 100bhp.

Hilux seems to be more reliable and rugged, but they are double the price of the L200.

Also the turn circle is a joke even by 4x4 standards. Still like it because it didn't let me down until today, and again it gets the job done.

The 2.5 of my Hilux only makes a 102hp, but comparing to my boss' L200/the ones at my work it still feels a bit more powerful - may be due to the lower gearing or that it has kept more of its power over the years

They also hold their value stupidly well here

I gave $10300 (in my local currency) for my Hilux last summer; a 2003 SR5 with some very light rust, 180 000km but generally very well kept and in good condition. An L200 with more equipment and fewer kilometres might run me like $7500

>I'm a big fan of keeping trucks stock. Lasts the longest that way.
Not really fully accurate. There is some mods out there that definitely improve reliability.

As a fellow Silverado owner, tie rods are a big one. The stockers are garbage for any heavy 4 wheel drive applications. I broke my driver side pulling a stuck Taco out of the mud. Aftermarket Kryptonite tie rods(along with some other front end mods) and I can do anything in 4 wheel drive without breaking sweat.

On the diesel side of things, one of the best things I did on my Duramax was delete the EGR. My intake was so full of gunked up shit from that.
A lift pump is also a nice addition to add extra fuel filtration and water separation, not necessary by any means, but if you have to fuel from questionable sources it's definitely nice to have.

It ain't mine, it's my girlfriend's. We didn't intend buying it. We were looking at a different truck but it had a deposit on it so they gave us this one for less than the original truck, with the 5.3 and Z71 package just couldn't pass it up. There's no reason to de-rice it, the wheels and tires are new, thinking we'd probably sell them once it needs new tires.

So far she'd like an exhaust, splash guards, needs a bed liner, maybe fender flares.

>>
>>17081744
Your fine on tie rods then. It's really a 4wd issue, doing boosted launches, having to give it a lot of power in thick mud, sled pulling, etc, or in my case yanking something out of mud in 4wd.

>>
>>17081904
>I've heard of a lot of people installing pump rub kits as well on 4wd
Yeah, that's an important one as well. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of trucks with hundreds of thousands of miles with no pump rub, but it's a lot cheaper to do the pump upgrade and be done with it then it is to have to replace the transfer case because it ran dry.

LBZs are solid, no DEF or DPF to deal with and the EGR isn't overly expensive or difficult to delete, or you could just block it for real cheap if you aren't worried about the coolant and just want to stop the exhaust from entering the intake. Plus, you don't have to worry about injectors like you did on the LB7s.

Great looking Hilux.

Indeed they keep their value pretty good. I gave the equivalent of $7200 for my L200 with 195 000km (1999). Hiluxes from the same year and same kms would go for $13000, single or club cab versions.

But again, can't go too wrong with a Japanese pick-up from this era, be it an Hilux, L200 or D-Max. There's a pretty good reason why they are regarded as the Kalashnikovs of vehicles.

Would love to own an American but neither european gas prices neither the streets are made for them.

>>17085366
Occasional off-roading and hauling stuff. I don't use it everyday. And while my L200 does 13L/100km urban, an american V8 5.something would do like 18-20L/100km. And petrol, not diesel, which here is way more expensive.
>>
>>17085389
I get 22 liters per 100km on an extremely bad day. 1995 GMC K1500 with the 5.7 liter v8 throttle body injection, 4 speed automatic with no overdrive, and a 3.73 rear end. You're right about gas guzzling, but it's not as bad as you say.
>>
>>17076453
That stock ride height?
>>
>>17085503
For the occasional use yes, it's not that bad on gas millage.

Worse is really the tiny european roads (switzerland in my case) that even a mid-size truck like the L200 is considered a giant already.

That plus the fact that here there is a tax on power output + CO2 emissions and you end up paying like $3000 early alone on taxes (not counting insurance), if you own a 5 liter V8.

So only richfags own RAMs and F-150s here, making a Hilux or a L200 not a bad idea if you're looking for a truck

>>17085338

>>

Lucky.
In Switzerland you can't even have a bullbar on your truck unless it's a model before '06 and it came installed from the dealer (no aftermarket stuff).

Uninstalling components that make your car make more noise is a no no. You can have a gun in your car here, but making noise is a bigger crime it seems.

Tbh you can't mod your car/truck without declaring it on your papers, and some mods may not be accepted by the periodically inspection. Only changes I will and can do to my 4D56 engine is increase it's Bhp from 100 to 144 with a simple engine reprogram.

>As an American

There you have it. You americans operate with a completely different idea on vehicles than we here in Europe do

>cheap
Its gonna be cheaper there because your taxation system is adjusted for vehicles like that, the fuel is cheaper, and there are way more of them so used ones are a lot cheaper
>reliable
I think most vehicles are reliable as long as they are maintained

European/asian trucks are made to be smaller, usually more efficient and more offroad oriented than the american counterparts, which tend to be more oriented towards heavier towing and hauling, better roads, long distance travel, and also to be used a lot more as daily drivers

What are my.options? I live in New York City, in the Bronx. I'm looking for the following:

>Regular/single cab
>Short bed (regular or step/flareside)
>I6 or V8
>Manual is a must for I6, automatic or manual is fine for V8
>Preferably full size, it seems that smaller trucks struggle with heavier loads
>2WD preferable since 4WD isn't mandatory, but 4WD is nice to have I guess for the occasional muddy trail, parking spot turned into snow bank, shitty yards or roads to potential customers, etc)

Am I better off just getting a 2 door removable top SUV? I would like a truck to do some camping and motorcycle hauling to and from the track. I'm a student mechanic and I like to buy things to fix and sometimes sell, so I figured having the ability to tow when necessary would be helpful.

I do have a preference for something like the C10/R10 or 90s pre-jelly bean F150.

anyone got advice on buying used trailers? been looking to get an all purpose car hauler flat bed. want a bumper tow but I've got an LBZ with fifth wheel rails and I hear GN's tow much nicer anyway.

pic related popped up for sale not too terribly far from me. 5k tandem axles, good tires, has a winch, i think it's 10,000 lb. lights all work. asking $3600. seem like a fair deal? what should I specifically look out for? thanks.

I am a big fan of the obs, I really like the cat eyes. Only reason I was looking to go newer was because of the power. I have to run a tune, intake, and exhaust on my LBZ(which is no slouch by any means) to make the same numbers as the L5P does in stock form.

Going to be installing headers comma Dynomax exhaust, larger throttle body, and currently saving up for the Edelbrock e-force supercharger waiting to put bigger tires on the truck because the crappy donut tires that came on that have too much tread to logically swap out at this point. I really hate the fad of putting big ass wheels and tires with no side wall on lifted trucks. Also, light bars are for faggots. The giant exhaust tips grind my gears too, I just don't understand them, I can see your skinny ass exhaust pipe just a few inches behind your retarded 12" tip.

It looks like a half baked silverado mixed with a generic ugly crossover SUV

Here's the main question before all the background blog that you don't care about:
Are Sport Tracs fine in their first gen (01-05)? I won't deal with something built on the fourth gen Explorer after my current vehicle.
What trucks from other companies have a similar profile to the Sport Trac?

I've been driving Explorers for the last eight years. I loved my '97 to death, but shit in my '08 just keeps exploding.
I've been wanting to get a pickup and I'm looking to ditch my Explorer, as the mechanical issues I've dealt with have soured me on them. But every time I spot a pickup around town that I really, really like (mid-size, four door, short bed) and I check out the model.. it's a Goddamn Explorer Sport Trac.

Why aren't these threads more common, I like my truck and talking about other peoples trucks. It seems a lot of people on /o/ do too.
