Will it be:
>LT2: more aggressive cam and valvetrain LT1
>LT7: high displacement 427-454 direct injected LS7 successor
>LT8: DOHC high rpm top trim engine, likely introduced in MR C8 Vette
I think the horsepower goal would be at least 530hp to beat out the 526hp 5.2 VooDoo.
The 2018+ Vette and Maro should both get the 10-speed auto, so I wanna believe higher displacement and output is still viable.
The 460>530 70hp increase seems like a huge jump, but that's only 15%.
The 345hp LS1 > 405hp LS6 was a 14% 60hp with a fatter cam and stiffer springs.
The 345hp LS1 to 400hp LS2 was another 55hp from just 0.3L more of displacement.
The LT5 will be used in the C8 Corvette and it will be DOHC.

forgot pic, sorry

I guess it makes sense to put the seating position forward due to the mid engine, but it looks weird for a corvette.
>>17070605
They will still make a front engined corvette for purists. Some speculate they might even make the mid engined one the new XLR or something.
>>17070572
Yea he's saying it won't fit Alpha or C7 platform because DOHC heads are two wide.
I want a 7.4 pushrods V8 that revs to 7700 anyways.
>>17070572
learning from the best
>>17070618
I think their strategy is to move the Vette image exotic and leave the Camaro as the staple FR boomer mobile.
>>17070624
Maybe Ford will make a v8 ecoboost in response.
>>17070651
ecoboost is such a terrible name and I hope ford realizes this.
>>17070624
I think Northstar series and Modular came out the same year in 91
also
>make god tier DOHC V8s
>use shitty 11 mpg V6 in your supercar instead
>not your record breaking V8s
GG Ford.
>>17070672
Meant to post this but year they both debuted in 91
>>17070624
What makes Ford so revolutionary?
Dodge scat is a 6.4 485hp and the differe nce in speed miniscule.
>>17070651
>>17070663
Yep , called eco but still has bad gas mileage. At least it's got good torque.
>>17070750
when any normie sees the word 'eco', they think 'slow'
>>17070685
Ford makes only overhead cam V8's that are worth modding.
>>17070622
Might not happen this development cycle. I have a good friend who is a computer engineer working at GM in Detroit and according to him they can't get LSX displacement on the LT platform to pass emissions.
I hope it's DOHC, pushcucks won't recover

Hmm. Not having access to their market info, but the Vette seems to me to always have been an affordable super-ish car, the all American David to the euro goliath. The Camaro will always have a bit of a red neck patina for some reason.
Would be risky to push a car that sales so we'll, in base trim, further up into exotic territory.
To me it would make sense to have a mid engine caddy exotic and the Vette. Xlr does gt-lm, Vette does gtd/gt3. Although I can see the Vette and vette-mid engine living side by side.
The engine isn't the issue against the Ford GT, it's the chassis limitations of being a mass produced car. The Vette platform sales at a profit for 1/8 the the price tht a Ford GT breaks even.

Good thing it won't be as DOHCucks can't go over 4 liters without losing the backseat for engine space.
