soaps leave oils, water drying will leave residues, alcohol removes most everything.

while people may do 'wet application' for slaps, it is a bad practice for diecuts, and for anything with thinner lines and detail, having any residue from even just finger oil on your window or accidentally touching the glue side, can make that area not last nearly as long as it is capable of.

rubbing hard and fast is good for releasing the glue from the back of the vinyl during the tape application but be sure to not overdue it because you can still warm up the other layer doing this and you want that bottom layer to not be as soft.

the heat will shrink the vinyl but be careful with the heat gun as you're liable to damage or discolour with that level of heat, you can easily get curling on corners which will result in sections peeling themselves off over time.
and though the vinyl itself can contract, heat will cause gases or vapours trapped underneath to expand

a simple wrap can be done cheaply but an itasha wrap done more or less properly has to get the positioning of everything planned out and perfect, and will still cost you a fair bit to get printed due to the size required and the planning.

but if you were to go the non-wrap option, it'd be like buying and layering many jumbo sized stickers and applying them to a theme.

in the end it all comes down to what you consider "itasha'd", how good you are at planning things out

technically you could do itasha from entirely layered (non-printed) diecuts given patience, time, and liberal use of hanger magnets.

Na, USPS doesn't care. You're supposed to mark them as nonmachinable but my local PO never did for whatever reason even when I told them what I was mailing. As for customs, I never lost any of the keytags, as far as I know so they probably don't care either.

That said, putting cardstock on both sides does help with them chewing out of the envelope/into stickers.
