I think my downpipe is fucked. A week ago or so I posted pics of my yellow miata with starting issues with a cold engine (cranks fine though). It always takes 5 seconds to start, a loud bang from the exhaust, and then it starts. Spark plugs and spark plug wires are already replaced. Now people are suggesting injectors, too rich mixture etc. Today I jacked my car up to have a quick look. Things that I noticed:
- Fucked downpipe(?) pic related
- When jacked up fully from the differential, my jack stand is too big to reach the jacking point (despite my jack stands being standard size)
- bit of red stuff on underside, will post moar pics
what the fuck is wrong with my miata? i fell for the meme didn't I
other angle

how fucked? downpipe needs to be replaced?
>>17060178
Is there suppose to be an o2 sensor where the hole is in ur exhaust?

>>17060178
Fuck the exhaust, that's easy and cheap.
The rest of the cancer on your crossmember is atrocious and I'm sure there's plenty more.
>>17060895
So I should sell it after I get the engine issues and soft top fixed?
>>17060178
I kinda doubt it's exhaust related, although yours is fucked. As other people have said you're probably looking at a fuel issue or maybe an intake issue since you presumably know you have spark. Have you checked the air filter and the intake to make sure there isn't some kind of obstruction?
>>17060947
Man thanks for reminding me! I wanted to check the air filter some time ago already but forgot. I'm gonna check the air filter right away. About the intake: what's there to check?
>>17060964
>what's there to check?
I have no idea how the Miata is set up but anything forward of the air filter box where shit could accumulate or get placed there by mice if you store the car outside.

Weld in a new cat retard
A hole has fucking rusted yours through
>>17061131
???? a cat for the miata NB looks like pic related. The thing that has a hole rusted through in my car is a pipe that goes up.
Althpugh not an NB, it's this part.
>>17061197
If that is only a down pipe, and there's no exhaust leak, you don't really have a problem. The rusty hole is just the heat shield, not the exhaust pipe itself. If it don't leak, then don't freak.
