I lost my keys to my 16 year old 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage. How the fuck do I go about getting a replacement key?
Go to the dealership
Oh wait...
Check gas cap, driver's side undercarriage, spare tire area if underneath car, etc for a spare key. Check the places you think you could have lost it. If/when you find it, go to a hardware store and see if they have keymaking services. Chances are it's just a mechanical key, they can cut you new ones.

if it has immobilizer, price for making new key for it will be probably as high as price of two used cars in good condition. Maybe swapping entire electronics could work, if it's possible in this car.

Call up a locksmith, tell them you need keys made for it. Also, expect them to see proof of ownership first. You're looking at about $100-$200 to have a key made for it.
>Spare key? $3. No keys?!? $300.
>Don't lose you keys

But actually call your insurance first to see if they can put you in contact with one that they're gonna cover.
If not, locksmiths will do jew magics to your wallet to make your money disappear.
If money is an issue call your local police department, if they're not too busy they'll open your door but they might or might not harm it in the process.

Dont think they have an immobilizer. My 2002 lancer didnt. Just pull a ignition cylinder and key from a junkyard mirage. Mirages are simple and easy to work on shitboxes.
replace the ignition switch
who gives a fuck about your old key.
