got an 05 GTP recently and it's in a pretty beat condition. It's a truly awesome car, but prepare to start fixing tons of little nuisances that comes with an older car. My repair list keeps growing but it's all manageable so far. love this thing so damn much though.

Aside from some notable exceptions, GM always had trouble with transverse FWD automatics. Had GM stuck in a manual, it would've been fine. The 4T80e was the most reliable FWD automatic GM had, but it was meant for the Northstar V8. The 4T80 was also huge in comparison to the 4T65eHD they used.
Again, had they just used a manual, they wouldn't have had a problem, but manuals don't sell, so it would've been pointless.

Personally, I like destrokers.
I'd grab a 350 block and put in a 283 crankshaft. Make a nice, high revving 302 with some high flowing heads, a good camshaft, and a good intake manifold with fuel injection. Lots of fun.
That's me though. I think strokers are pointless. A 350 with those same parts would be fun, but I like high RPM screamers. High RPM screamers are pretty exclusive to big bore, small stroke engines

Random semi-off-topic question, but I kind of miss my old 99 Grand Prix GTP after driving a dodge truck for the last 4 years. What modern (~2014^) car is likely going to be as nice as my old grand prix, but still be a tank in the winter snow. Never once got that car stuck.

hey Trans-am-kun, Please, please consider researching propane injection. It is easy, and good. Please ignore people who have never done it. Trucks and 3000gt/ 3SI have done it much. Just do 2 things, get good insulation for your container, and keep it in the trunk, strapped where your spare would go, and run a line. Dont try and keep it anywhere else. no more dangerous than NOS or a spare fuel tank/ cell.

I really don't get that. It's what makes the car cool. Even then, it's only something you saw on WS6 cars.
Speaking of which, I'm considering trying to hunt down an SS hood for my Z28. The scoops on those (and the WS6 hoods) are functional, the problem is getting the air from the hood into the airbox.
