Aside from the Civic and Corolla, what are good, reliable econoboxes?

My buddy's got an Impreza I don't wanna copycat him. But there's a Mazda3 I've been eyeing up.

It's your money, buy what you like. Ask him what he thinks of it, maybe he'd be happy you want one too.
Dumb phone poster.

Škoda Octavia 1st gen
(5l/100km diesel FTW, petrol only if you can stand the higher fuel consumption but on the other hand it's completely indestructible car in every single way)

Fug :DD

So get the VW equivalent (or Seat equivalent)? Or you never got them either? Or import a 4x4 Haldex one (preferably turbo gasoline) and lock the diffs with an aftermarket chip and enjoy your ultimate on-a-budget drift missile?
I mean they are practically FREE In here and they work well after 500k km...

Ahh so it looks like the Golf and Jetta are my American equivalents.
Any W202 with a 4Cyl.

I don't know if these have the same engines but if you want just a cheap and indestructible car then go for the 66kw diesel one and if you want a gas one then go for the 1.8L Turbo.
In here these cars have a reputation of absolutely indestructible and never-rusting (well they DO rust, but hell every car will after 20 years of driving on salt) work horses.
Honestly. If I could live with the bad fuel consumption I would go for the 4x4 turbo gas and just mod the shit out of it.
Chevy cavalier they go for like 1k

DO NOT buy a sentra. They ate not reliable. It will eat your dipstick and crack engine mounts off the block.
Not to mention burn oil and destroy electronics.
Or suck bolts into the engine.
Dont buy one.
