My car has recently been vibrating when breaking. I believe it is a warped rotor, although when I checked only one rotor stuck out to me. I think I was able to fee a slight raise in the rotor but in all reality it didn't seem like much. Here's a picture of it. I was hoping somebody with more experience could confirm it for me. Thank you!

Bad angle, shitty light

But yes, it's probably warped from your description. Mic it, then either have it machined or replaced.

For future reference, if you don't get your brakes hot, your rotor won't warp.

That line is just where the brake pad last stopped. You can't see the warpedness of a rotor unless something's really fucked up. You need to have it measured to see how out of round it is. Bring it to a shop that does brakes and say can you measure/ turn my rotors. They will say yes or no

Warped discs are a fucking meme.

One of your calipers will be binding.

If your steering shakes when braking, it's your front rotors. If the whole cars rocks when braking, it's your rears.
>>
Does it vibrate as soon as you apply the brakes only slightly, or when you brake really heavily?
>>
I thought mine were warped at one point, turns out I didn't tighten all my lug nuts when I put them back on because I was drunk. So before you start buying replacement parts, I'd say put some torque on those bad boys and give her a test drive. Worst that'll happen is they were all tight in the beginning and you tightened them for nothing but you won't spend any money
>>
It could be dirt. Give them a good cleaning and a light sanding. If that doesn't work and your calipers are fine replace rotors and pads.

When you take off rotors for cleaning clean the hub and all surfaces

Yes and no. Rotors don't literally warp rather their flatness over time as brake pad friction material embeds itself into the rotor which is why a used rotor has a kind of dull sheen vs a new clean looking rotor.

>If your steering shakes when braking, it's your ball joints

FTFY

Buy dial gauge, magnetic base, micrometer.

Then check break disc run out and thickness.

Not a rocket science.
