Is there any carmaker more based?
The only 2 problems porsche has ever really had was the ims bearing problem, easily fixed....and the carrera gt KILLING PEOPLE cause it required skill.
Porsche is seriously based.
I know it's blasphemous, but I wish they made a mid-sized daily comfy-mobile. Something not as big as Panamera and not as low and stiff as 718/911. Sadly it's never happening.

Cayman? Couldn't afford a 911.

Aircooled 911? Expensive as all fuck even for a rolling shell.
Or just stop worrying about what people think and get a car you enjoy.
I saw a white '87 Carrera Cabriolet at a car show. Never saw one in person or got the whole Porsche thing until then. It's such a charming car, and from what I hear, a wonderful driver that can go many miles with good servicing.

If I had boomerbux I'd have bought one the next day. On the other hand, there was another guy with I'm guessing a mid 70's 911 that was incredibly betadefensive about it.

I'm a big porsche fan, but let's not straight up lie here. A proper 911 starts at 100k, and even a 718 is $55k. They used to have the 944 and 928 which were real entry level cars, but they don't have anything similar now. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not true that they have entry level cars.
>>17012502
997 Carrera 2S are fucking amazing cars, and really not that expensive. Plus, you can get a stick
>>17013210
I've driven my uncle's 997 Carrera 2S with the carbon ceramic brakes and I can tell you it's one hell of a car for the money. Sure, it's not a turbo or a GT3 but that car has so much potential, and the entry cost is not too high. Plus maintenance is reasonable since Porsche keeps parts in stock
>>17015422
MSRP of the 944 was $43k starting towards the end of its life, which is right in line with the 718s adjusted for inflation
And the 928 was supposed to be a replacement for the 911, it's MSRP was $29k in 1978, which is well over $100k adjusted for inflation
>>17015520
Yeah, I meant 924, not 928. Small fuckup there. Didn't realize the 944 was so expensive though
>>17015553
Yeah Porsche has been really consistent with their pricing, save for the 911 which has basically doubled in price since 1964
Then again in their own words "An entry level Porsche is a used Porsche"
Even the owner's manual for my Boxster flaunts about how most Porsches ever made are still on the roads

Got some E X T R A T H I C C oil for my Boxster
What do you guys normally run?
So I'm looking to sell my speed 3 and get a car I can have fun in while not constantly speeding my ass off. Right now I'm looking at boxsters, nc miatas, mazdaspeed miatas, mr2 spyders, and saturn sky redlines. My first car was a 88 944S so another porsche would be cool but it seems really heavy for what I'm going for. Would I feel like I just downgraded in power after a bit and not really got what I wanted in a boxster? And would it be ok to drive 5 minutes in snowy weather? (I live right down the street from work). Thanks homies.
>>17041582
Get a Boxster S if you're worried about power, some bolt ons and a tune can net that thing 300bhp
And they're great in the snow, as long as you have narrow winter tires on the rear
The weight from the engine will push down on the rear wheels and help them dig into the snow, not so much with wider tires
>>17041599
Not power so much but more than it seems to be 3000lbs and the whole point of getting a different car for me is to have fun without having to speed all the time. I'm considering the boxster because convertible and it might just be that I miss sitting really low and being tiny, not so much the weight? But they seem to be somewhere in the middle. If I want mid engine and tiny, what will the boxster give me that the mr2 wont? I know it's got like 80bhp than the mr2 but it weighs a lot more too. And if I get a boxster s, why not a sky redline? I am not picking on it, I'm legitimately just stating my thought process for this and wondering if there are things I'm wrong about or don't know about?
>>17041615
>3000 lbs
The 986s weigh 2700-2800 lbs depending on options
>MR2
It'll get blown around whenever a bro-truck or mall crawler decides to pass you, or even by a strong gust of wind
The Boxster is more practical with 2 trunks, more stable at higher speeds, has much more supple suspension, and nicer (that doesn't mean pretty) interior, much higher quality soft top that retains heat and blocks out road noise
Seriously I considered an MR2 Spyder and its a fucking rattle can
>Sky Redline
Weighs like 300lbs more than the Boxster and still has less storage space
Feels nowhere near as nice to drive, though I drove the Solstice
Has a mid-2000s GM squeak-tasti
>>17041651
>The Boxster is more practical with 2 trunks, more stable at higher speeds, has much more supple suspension, and nicer (that doesn't mean pretty) interior, much higher quality soft top that retains heat and blocks out road noise
yea I almost forgot about that, I test drove one last weekend and my god no space at all. It did feel great being so ridiculously tiny though. I guess I'll just have to go give some boxsters test drives to see how it all compares and if the power/weight satisfies me. Is there an upper limit that you'd buy a boxster at in terms of miles? Like 80k too many to buy at?

work your ass off. move to USA, go to school here, get a good paying job and buy a porsche.
How much legroom and headroom does a new 911 have?
>>17049593
I have plans of moving when I finish college, but even then, it's really relatively hard to move from here
>>17049611
I already live to work and study, don't really have much time for anything else. But I was thinking about Australia kiwiland or

Also Japan
>>17045794
True goddamn story.
I was hoping to get a 996 Turbo but the skyrocketing prices lately make it seem like that won't be happening

>>17050037
>can't find a single 996 Turbo under 50 grand where I live
Fuck, when did this happen?
>>17049611
seeing as drumpf yesterday signed something making it much harder to get work visas, shit just got a lot harder for him.
and im pretty sure he's better off staying there and working his ass off. cars are stupid expensive, but some people make some serious stupid money.
>>17050075
i really hate magnus walker
my god, i know what he does is "good" but the man himself is so repulsive looking, he really gives the brand and its classics a bad name.
I'm not sure if his ugly hair and fucking massive beard make him feel like gandalf and therefore some kind of superior, guru- like being, but it doesnt fucking work. I'm sure he and his projects would get a lot more attention if he was even remotely presentable to the people who also own classics, who are a polar opposite kind of people.
>>17050273
It'd be extremely easier to get an us work visa than buying any shitbox here. Corolla and Civic are considered luxurious sedans here, which the higher middle class always buy.
>>17050039
What did he mean by that?

okay so I'm looking at both a 996 gt3 and a 981 gt4
996
>relatively cheaper
>appealingly controversial as a 996
>more A E S T H E T I C
>great shifter feel
>will skyrocket in value if and when porsche makes all 911's mid engined like the 991 rsr
981
>faster
>safer
>better balanced
>suspension components off the 991 gt3
>much more modern amenities
>sport chrono
>warranty
only reason I'm not considering air cooled is because I don't want some plain ol carrera
>>17056767
>>17056772
The best roadgoing porsches are RUFs, deal with it
>>17056851
GT4s are like $200k in Toronto last time I checked, 996 GT3s are much cheaper
Performance wise I believe they're about equal
>>17040024
>>17054555
Hey, I think I took that pic.
Good news guys, planning a trip to Belgium and Germany at the end of May. One of my goals is to hit up that Porsche museum in Stuttgart, will take lots of pics.
>>17056854
>The best roadgoing porsches are RUFs,
Except they're hardly road cars
>>17056905
You're not really spending 200k on just performance though, obviously you could get far more performance for your money if that was your only goal
>>17057018
True, there is that exclusivity factor since the GT4 is the Cayman where Porsche said "fuck it" and made it straight up faster than 911s
Its also the top tier model of the last generation Caymans and Boxsters that are going to have naturally aspirated flat 6s
>>17056968
Is there a difference between regular oils and "European formula" oils?
I know that build American engines usually need more zinc
>>17056990
Make sure you get some of the tractors, my grandpa had one
>“There are a lot of people who aren’t looking at the stopwatch when they’re on the track and they just want the interaction and they want a driver’s car. This is the reason why we left the route of being the quickest on the Nürburgring and only thinking about lap times. I don’t care that the competition is a little bit faster around the ‘Ring.
>“It’s not our mainstream program to have the quickest lap times and to advertise our cars only by lap time because, to be honest with you, if you have a car with the perfect setup for the Nürburgring, it will be a dog on the street and everywhere else.”
Where were you when Porsche was confirmed at the GOAT manufacturer?
>>17056990
Yeah, I probably saved all the pics you posted in a thread
>>17056990
And you really like rims, don't you?
>>17056851
>only reason I'm not considering air cooled is because I don't want some plain ol carrera
if you can afford one old i would consider it.
i got an 930.
If you want a mix of nice race car + puristic feel + modern technology i would buy the 993.
If you want puristic race feeling go with f and g modell (930).
If you want mix go with 964, but better 993.
I think the 996 gt3 will hold his value or increase too. In Germany you can buy a good GT3 for about 69-79k €. Good G-Modells (no imports) are around 40-60k.
It is a nice car, but for me too much electronical components. But it is one of the newer Porsche i would also buy, especially at the momen because they are in my opinion on the lowest price.
981 is nice car and better balanced like you said too. But it isn't a 911, and many will blame you for that, if you dont care about brands it is okay. But 911 are more stable in value. At least here in Europe. I dont know where you come from.
Boxters, Caymans, 924,944,928,964 are more the "Pleb Cars" of Porsche here in Europe. They all nice some of them are better then some 911. But here in Europe theres more brand awareness towards 911. But some care about this other dont.
>>17049540
I see always at least one 911 when I drive a bit longer distance.
6/1000 registered cars are Porsche's in my city.
>>17061280
Where do you live? In the south or SP?
>>17060871
>Porsche say they don't care about being the fastest round the 'Ring
>right after their precious Panamera got BTFO by based Giulia

>>17061515
But the Panamera is a giant luxobarge, they aren't even in the same class

That one earlier was at Laguna Seca, I think for the Rolex Motorsports Reunion.

Will do. Saw one at Sebring during the 12 Hours race.
