The kind that can't complete a single lap of a track without overheating
Maybe not the most bizarre, but VW's VR5 is certainly fucking weird.

Did you forget about the W8 motor...?
>>17003600
Forgot to attach image omg.
>>17003603
I didn't, I've actually seen a W8 Passat in the flesh.
I just picked the VR5 because it's such an absurd concept.
The W8 makes some kind of sense (test platform for W-configuration engines, very short block for 8 cylinders which is ideal for Audi's AWD system) but the VR5 is just "let's just cut one cylinder off the VR6 because we want another engine option".
>>17003636
Good sounding though
>>17003644
Multiples of 5 cylinders almost always sound great.
>>17003552
It's been shitty for at least the past two years. Before then I can't really say
>>17003505

I dont get it. Is he paid? I'm struggling to understand the level of boredom or autism that would make this an acceptable pastime. And for so LONG, too. It's relentless.
If I could filter "btfo", "fangirl", and "cuck" from my phone I'd probably never notice him. But I can't.
Anybody suggest an android browser that allows filters?
>>17003842
>Is he paid?
no, he advertises Ford for free.
>>17003654
W-what?
>>17003878
It's for diesel, greater apex seals = greater compression
Suzuki's U4 comes to mind.
This is an engine block with 2 I2s parallel to one another, each with it's own crankshaft, eventually being connected further down.
It worked for Suzuki in MotoGP, back during the two stroke era.
They were quite dominant with it.

>>17003807
This is one of six rows of cylinders, each row being constituted of 3 cylinders and 6 pistons in a triangular arrangement like pic related. There is a crankshaft at each apex of the triangle. Air intake and exhaust is made possible by a turbocharger or by superchargers, as there is no real succing cycle.
>>17003685
Wonder what the longevity of those linear bearings would be.
>>17003505
I had a K75RT and it was ridiculously smooth to the point it felt like it was electric. No vibration at all at any engine speed.
>>17005331
Probably not bad considering pistons do the same thing.
>>17003561
Did it had an oil leak ?
>>17003952
is that a Komoto Dragon. did it throw a piston
>>17005331
much longer than a crank bearing thats for sure
>>17004028
can it pick winning powerball numbers
>>17003600
Dont forget they made a W12 for the Phaeton as well.
>>17003529
what does btfo mean?
>>17003685
That looks like a mechanical nightmare.
>>17003685

>>17003673
>>17007437
It had well over 130HP in proper trim.
HRC version had about 200hp, but those parts were not for sale to the public.
And that bike and engine exist solely because Honda hated 2strokes so much they were fucking determined to beat 2stroke GP bikes with a 4stroke. They did not succeed.
>>17003653
N15 engine when?
>>17003515
>>17007531
Wrong. They were extremely successful in the 50cc division in the 60s and 70s
>>17004224
Looks reliable and super practical. I bet it's a breeze to manufacture and a great value cost wise. Why is everyon eso stupid and only we're smart enough to know that this engine is the answer??? How is it possible for everyone else to be so stupid?
>>17008349
I know so successful! How is everyone except us and Honda from the whatever years SO STUPID? This engine's obvious superiority is slapping everyone in the face, how are they so dumb that they can't even see it? If only [every engine manufacturer in the world] werent so stupid and as smart as [us] and [honda] the internal combustion engine would be 500years more advanced. Isn't it so tragic how smart we are and how stupid everyone else is??

>>17005331
How would that be an issue?
>>17003685
the great thing about this design is that the crank always has even pressure on each side meaning that it can be made of super light material, like magnesium, or aluminum, and best of all the crank can use journal bearings.
OPAC says that this alone should increase efficiency by 13%
>>17008535
I mean ball bearings, not journal.

Ariel restarted a few years ago by making the Atom and now the Nomad, remember? They're also building a new bike, the Ace, based on a Honda V4.
