I believe that value is just based on growth. For example, I believe Tesla sold about 75,000 vehicles this past year whereas GM sold around 10 million. Tesla is growing at an amazing rate but is still no where close to the big brands.

Tesla is the most overvalued company I've ever seen. The stock price is 99.9% nerd hype, there's no reason a company hemorrhaging almost 800 million dollars a year should be valued so highly.
