Sup all,
I'm looking for kinda stout gearbox to handle ca. 800whp
I see some people are going with Nissan cd009, is it worth gearbox to try or should I invest $$$ and go with v160/v161?

T56 and 5060 are hard to find locally, basically my options are cd009 and v161

Then import them from the US, it might be cheaper than a v160. I personally wouldn't use the Nissan setup, it seems like more of a headache than the Toyota/Getrag unit - and that headache will cost you more $$$ down the road. Also, resale value.

Complete swap kit with v161 and stock clutch goes for 4500usd on local market. For refence I spent 10k usd for N/a mk iv in mint condition
Cd009 are sold for less than 1500.
What is the average price for t56 or 5060 in the us?

A new T56 from Chebby is 4500 USD. Second hand, you might even nab aT56 with the LS1 still attached to it for about 5K. On their own, they're somewhere between 2-3K rebuilt. A bellhousing adapter is something like 600 USD. If you want to know more, just go browse eBay.

$2-3K for rebuilt gearbox, shipping will be close to $1k, then $600 for the adapter plate
That's $3600-4600 already
Also I'll likely have to invest into the shifter, then comes the clutch and drive shaft. So the cost will be over $4500.

going with V160/161 would cost much less than importing T56.
I can get triple disc clutch for V160/161 from Japan for less than $2000, $4500 for complete V161 swap kit, also I bet I can sell OEM flywheel/clutch disc/basket for like $500.
Going with built T56 and importing it from US would cost $5300 for the gearbox and drive shaft combo, add $1k for shipping, and few grands for clutch. 8-10 grands
Is T56 that strong?

>Is T56 that strong?
The V161 is rated at 500 ftlbs of torque from the factory. The T56 Magnum is rated at 700.
>>16996263
yeah +200ftlbs and +$4 000 or x2 the price of V161.
If I were in the US I'd go with T56/TR6060 no doubt about that (comparing prices on rebuild kits for getrag and T56 says it all) but it's less than 700 miles to Tokyo from my place and sourcing stuff from Japan turns to be faster and cheaper.
