What faired bikes have easy to remove fairings? I love my half faired bikes but touring in the cold and wet is fucking shit.

Only problem is all the faired bikes I've worked on had really involved and stressful procedures for accessing regular things like valve covers and carburettor nipples.

Then fix it retard.

Most bikes are significantly off, even most cars are off.

10-15% off only manifests as a significant speed differential at high speeds, then who cares what exact speed you're going when you're hauling ass?
>>
>>16987626

Ironically, I've devised an incredibly simple way to remove the fairings from my GSX-R. I don't know if it works for other bikes but essentially you just remove all the fasteners on each side (like 7 each side) and let the entire fairings drop to the ground (leaving it connected in the middle still) and you just slide it out

easy off

easy on

Don't know about the ZX10R specifically but pretty much any liter bike from that time is considered great value. Don't pay more than $4,000 for it.
>>
>>16987700
They are the widowmaker

Really strong midrange and top end. Wheelbase is shorter than the same year ZX-6R. Really tall first gears. Known for violent headshake on the gas or over rough pavement.

Be prepared to pay significant amounts for insurance because that generation had more crashes than any other literbike. So not only are you going to pay ridiculous literbike insurance prices, you'll pay more.

They also have a nasty tendency to high side unless you have perfect throttle control.

If you do get it, I would buy a steering damper if it doesnt have one already and look into a Bazzaz TC module.

It's a fuel injected modern sport bike, as long as it runs I went to touch it as little as possible. I bought this bike to get on and go, not do maintenance or fiddle with mechanically. I've had enough of that for my primary bikes, but if I pick up another project down the road, we'll see.

You can still find time, I assure you. I work about the same and still got a few hours to burn every weekend when it's time to fix something. As you start to learn the ins and outs of your bike more, the faster you'll be when it comes to repairs. Soon, the slowest part of wrenching will just be waiting for parts or going to the shop to buy them

I don't think it's that. It would have been cheaper just to stick with stock gearing. Lower gearing and thinner chains are popular for their slightly better acceleration and shit.
Still, gearing is only off 8% and speedo is off by 18%. I've got the "healer" on the way and I'm probably going to look for a 16t 520 sprocket to fit on it as well just so it isn't so revvy when going highway speeds.

Odometer is not much of a problem considering that you have a fuel gauge. My KLR 650s stop working at 76,000k and now it is on 115,000ks I just have to check the tank to see if I have petrol. I think the screen is kaput but an electrician would be able to tell you more.

I am amusing you are an American. I know they have ride skill centres that teach you basic skills. Look in into that, I went to the school of hard knocks.

As for protection, the more well designed the helmet the better for you brain case in preventing sudden and permanent deactivation of your high functions. Think of it as using money to cushion your head. The more well know the better. That been said, any helmet is better than none.

Gloved are more or less than same. Typically the palms of your hands suffer the most in am accident. Decent leather gloves are a must.

Jackets are pants reduce the amount of road rash you will get in a smash up.

Boots are the best choice if you have spare money. I use safety boots because I work in them. Granted, it wont do much more than slow abrasion but that is all i need. Shoes often get ripped off you feet when sliding. So something that it tight is better.

If nothing else get a set of leather gloves and a decent helmet. Wear tight fitting shoes. You can live with road rash. But it much harder to get by when you ankle is ground away or your hands are fucked up.

Take this as you will, I squid 90% of the time.

This I'll explain more.
Trying to make a long story short, I was my friends dd last night so he could meet a tinder date, date brought a friend. Didn't work out cause the date was more into me. Some how she ends up pawning her friend on us, probably cause she's bat shit crazy, like she talks to herself crazy. And now my friend is ok with crazy chick staying in his room. If she's not gone soon, I'm going to have to do something, and that annoys me.

I live in the city next to an antique mall, in the evenings it's just a big empty parking lot. At the moment I don't have a way to unload it from the truck but tomorrow I'm borrowing a ramp to get it off.

Tomorrow night is going to be fun.

10k or so on the top end... Good.

that bike has a roller crank. It will last forever as long as the engine isn't lugged too much. If there's no harsh vibes from the lower end and no whine from any gear (top gear would be most prone to it I would think) than the bike is probably fine.

I may have left more para-cord in my cylinder than I thought. I kicked it over a dozen times or so and only heard it shred one more time. There could be like an inch of chopped up para-cord in there.

I've got an RCS19 and SS lines on mine - stock cylinder was a recall item on the K5 which they still write to me about.
>stainless lines
Any evidence they shorten stopping distances? Yes they improve the feel of the brakes but if you are going in a straight line to a stop with ABS surely you just grab the lever as hard as possible and it sorts itself out, or do SS lines aid the ABS at all, in which case why the fuck are Suzuki making them standard?
Hopefully these come out on the 0% deal Suzuki were doing in the UK last year with the L6... £139 down, £139 per month

>>
>>16988730
ABS is not faster on a track which is the only place you'll ever have trouble with brakes on any supersport made after 1989 fading which is the only problem suzuki brakes generally have.
>>
>>16988758
in terms of the ABS systems the ducati is likely better btw, they have 3 levels of intervention including one designed for track riding, the suzi is always on with 1 mode.

Personally i'm not interested in ABS, I'd be bypassing the ABS unit and possibly removing it if I bought a 2017 gsx-r1000r.
>>
>>16988730
Threshold braking is better than abs, and that requires good lever feel, and that is helped by braided lines
>>
>>16988758
>>16988768
I'm talking about the times in the OP, its the fastest bike to accelerate but the slowest to brake. I am assuming the test would have been done under the same conditions in terms of temperature/track condition the difference being the individual brake components and the tyres the bike is using, the only other factor being the front fork limiting the bikes ability to load the front tyre.
No doubt brembo will release a big brake kit for in within about 2 months of it launching anyway.
>>
>>16988698
The braking power really isn't a limiting power of stopping distance, since you could make any system brake harder just by squeezing harder. The main limiting factor on motorcycles is weight transfer. You can only brake so hard before you stoppie.
>>
>>16988791
It's all about weight transfer. The heavier front end means they can accelerate harder without a wheelie, but can't stop as hard without a stoppie.

Brother had an RC51, traded it for an XX and hasnt looked back.

Well other than the linked brakes being a clusterfuck, hes delinked them to get rid of that retardation.

Picking up a rental bike tomorrow and probably riding to schwarzwald if anyone is around

This whole year has been colossal shit in the pnw. I've got maybe 4 days of decent enough weather to properly ride in since I've insured my bike over a month ago.

I still ride in the rain, but it's nowhere near as fun.

Not that frankfurt guy but from my experience it's pretty expensive compared to car rental (90-130€ a day) and very regional. Also if something goes wrong you pay up to 1k€ before insurance covers the damages

I realized my PCV came with an intake+exhaust base map and that riding it around for a day wouldn't hurt my engine, so I went ahead and installed my Rottweiler SAS delete, removed my airbox, installed half my Rade Garage Tank kit and the PCV. It' ssuper clean now, even having two ECU's there's way less shit inside the engine cradle, you can see through it now. I still have to plumb the auxiliary tank but I'll do that some other time.

Bike fired right up with the PCV, blew a puff of smoke and then idled and revved fine. Gunna remove the baffle from the exhaust and then I'll ride to work in the morning to see if I can feel the power difference.

So I got my endorsement 2 years ago but then forgot about it and now I'm back in the market for a bike. I've been eyeing a GROM for a while just to mess around.

They're going for around 3.2k new at dealerships, will I be able to negotiate the price with them or not? I've never bought a new vehicle so don't know if price is negotiable with new things.

Anyone has one? What's a fair price I should be paying?

I can't buy from private sellers because I have no cash, I'd pay with my credit card or finance half of the price and pay it in a few months because I don't have the money right now.

I owned one, they're big, heavy, top heavy, slow, and not even comfortable for all that shit. Literally Harley tier. You can't even use the side stand or you burn a fuckload of oil so you have to heavy the beast up onto the center stand every time you stop.

>>
>>16989859
It's quite comfortable for me. Also how the hell would it burn oil by getting parked on the sidestand?
>>
>>16989879
The engine is sideways so oil leaks into the cylinder because it's not brand new.

>>16989861
No, BMW's are. My Goldwing too.
>>
>>16989884
So you mean to say the three drops of oil it burns after it's been parked on the sidestand is a big issue?
Also the problem you're describing should be less prominent in the models after '89.

Why we have 2 \dbt\ running?
