Didn't really start driving until I was 22. I didn't even really care about cars or driving at all before then - I took public transit all throughout highschool and the buses around campus were free for students as well.

Then when I was 22 I started feeling like maybe it was time I got a vehicle - I saw that 2G Eclipses were $2k and below on Craigslist and though "Holy shit I didn't know cool looking cars could be this cheap!"

During the course of my search I also ended up getting a ride in a 3000GT VR-4 (which felt fast as fuck to me) and ultimately ended up buying an IS300. That sucked me into cars and I've been into them ever since.

If I think retroactively, I think the IS300 would've been the car to have during high school. It was fun to drive and would've been baller as fuck (or at least would've been to the high school me anyway). Hell I got compliments on that thing even though it was like 9 years old by the time I bought it.

This car was bought for my sister who didn't want it. So it sat around for years untill I could drive it. I practiced with it a total of 3 times and then my parents got too lazy to teach me and then it took a few years for me to learn. They kept saying sure we can go practice and then when I asked they said not now. Anyways I didn't get my license until this year after 3 tries and fails got it on the 4th.

The first time I drove MY car on the road I was alone and had never driven a manual on the road (family all had automatics) I only knew how to drive one from the 3 or so times I had been taught in it totalling like 3 hours. I was sweating the whole time. But I got to the bank on the next town over and back without crashing. only stalled twice. Only started in 2nd instead of 1st accidentally and wondered why it was so hard to start once.

Long story short, I had a car all through highschool but never could drive it.

Dude it sounds like you don't actually want to help yourself. You CAN just go into a store and ask to work there. Look for help wanted signs and when you see one, walk in and ask for an application. Fill it out and turn it in. If they call you they will want an interview from you. Entry level jobs have very easy interviews. They aren't expecting Rocket scientists. You might need to repeat this process several times before you get hired. If you are nervous about interviews, look up a guide online.

As far as driving. Find some one who will let you drive their car. Get an auto first and learn manual later if you want. Things aren't as hard as you are making then. You have to want it though. If you keep making excuses you'll turn into a fat shitty neet in no time.

And not faggy paddle shifter things, a real stick shift with a proper clutch and really worked your way throught feeling every gear you feel so connected to your car that It's a totally different driving experience

I have driven both and as someone who knows waht it feels like to heel toe break with your vehicle I don't see how anyone could really argue that the automatic is better because of muh technology advances

I just wish the damned thing ran. It won't idle. It started right up even after sitting for months at a time and then dies immediately. I have to keep my foot on the gas constantly in order to keep it running. It's an electrical problem, I know that. Just not sure what.

I checked the MAF sensor. That's not the issue. The only other thing I found by Googling it (because apparently this is a common problem on these cars) is the ignition (sensor?). And it's definitely an electrical problem because it happens every time the battery is disconnected/dies. Even after driving it reliably for months. Disconnect battery; "WHOOP! MY MEMORY'S BEEN WIPED AND I FORGOT HOW TO IDLE." But thanks for the fuel filter tip. I have an extra lying around somewhere and it probably wouldn't hurt to change it.

The problem is, it's not technically that sporty. Mine was modified a bit by the PO with a few chassis stiffening things which added a bit of weight, but also turned it into an actually good handling car.

Save money for cheap manual car. Learm stick. Once you master it, sell it.
